I'm guessing you were going over 5mph or hit the gas on impact...
I still have the aluminum bumper on my truck with some tubes tied into it... I've bashed it on one side pretty darn hard on rocks with no damage. Been a bit surprised how much it has taken. It has two decent sized bolts holding it to the crush cans on each side and the aluminum back plate is 1/4". Then again, I'm usually going less than 5mph when it hits and I usually ride up on top of the rocks.
See if you can score a new bumper + cover from someone here... who went with a plate bumper. I've got a spare I have picked up... Most people throw them away. If you can get a 2010 trail bumper.. it is much better for approach an has the best durability... better than the 2014+ and would keep the same look.

It happens Ron. Sometimes no matter how careful we try to be life has to ***** slap us a bit. 
I backed my car into one of those years ago and they definitely don't move. Beat the heck out of the bumper and filler panel.
I got out and kicked the pole. It didn't help. :Cry:

The broken parts stripped off
Well here are a couple of photos of the plastic and aluminum parts stripped off. Awaiting of approval of estimate from State Farm before repairs begin....
There is no damage to frame, suspension, radiator or steering parts.
BTW - I've been having my photos hosted by photobucket fo a dozen years - Is there something better out there?

not bad, to put things into perspective my quote to fix this was just over $1,000 :jaw:

I backed a T-bird into one of those years ago. Empty parking lot and i was backing away from a curb. Made a hell of a noise, luckily I was already hitting the brakes. People about 30 yards away looked when I slammed the pole.
Swallowed my pride, put it in drive and drove about 1/2 block away before getting out to look at the damage. Luckily the only damage was a little scratch on the paint.

Got a one-liner e-mail response from insurance saying that the submitted estimate was approved.

Went to body shop to check progress yesterday - Not started as the wrong brackets were shipped (the black brackets below headlights). Correct ones supposed to arrive today. Hopefully I'll get to start off-roading again by about the 29th!

Did they just repaint it or replace it? Because that does look pretty deep. Either way to remove and install the bumper then paint, they would have to remove the tail lamps, remove your reverse sensors etc etc. The main costs is usually paint.
