Interesting…Then I would start by checking all your nuts and bolts and make sure the fan isn't wiggling and make sure nothing surrounding it isn't loose and possibly making contact. Keep us posted on what you find/don't find.
Have you been out wheeling and made any water crossings or playing in any deep mud holes? I've broken a plastic fan during a water crossing before...just a thought?!?
Anyway...here's a good opportunity to replace your mechanical fan with an electric one. This will prevent this from happening again...plus save some horsepower maybe a bit better fuel mileage...

I had a flexalite fan system on my 3.0 v6 pickup, it seamed like it would overheat easy, and didn't notice any power gain.
