broken letters above licence plate

When I bought my 94, one of the letters above the licence plate was broken off (I have seen that this is a pretty common problem). It was the second T, so it read "TOYO A". Today I took out the second O and the A off so it reads "TOY".

I am wondering if there is an easy way to get the broken pieces out incase I want to put on new letters later on.

personally i would have removed the letters so it reads "YO" - but that's just because i'm so cool, you may not be that cool

usually the emblems are glued on so hit the junkyard and look for complete ones and re glue it

as far as removing, just clean as much glue off as you can then hand buff it with some rubbing compound

On my 4runner the plate behind has three little holes where letters clip into. When you try and take them off they break and the little clips are left inside.

if you must have it, i would peruse local junkyrads for the whole chrome piece with all the letters

if it were me i would just remove the rest of the letters and cover it with another plastic piece glued in place

from what I see in my catalog at work you can not buy just the letters you have to buy the whole garnish toyota pt # 76801-89102 chrome package

Yeah my bad. I see that my post kind a reads like a ****as*. Really wasn't my intention.

Looking through the FSM, your pictures of what is left of the clips for each letter and the garnish piece, it appears that you would have to remove the garnish from inside. You might be able to pull each letter off and push what is left of the clips into the tailgate with a punch but then you are left without any lettering at all. I guess a custom sticker in it's place may not be a bad option.

I have the rear bezel with letters

I recently retro fitted the swing out tire carrier on my truck. I have the rear bezel with the letters attached. One of the "O"" s has a crease. pay for shipping and it is yours.

My plate is in a little better shape than that. I think I will just see if I can find another T and glue the letters back on or something. Hey man, I really appreciate the offer though. It is offers like that that can really make someones day on parts they cant find or afford.
