Budbuilt Hidden Winch Mount Warn 9.5 cti Intall Help

Well I tackled the install of my BudBuilt hidden winch mount and I have encountered a couple of problems, if anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it!

I loosened the bumper a bit to accomodate dropping the winch mount assembly in.

The first problem I am having is in the first photo, the fit is to tight for the mount to drop all the way in between the bumper and the back bracket. How tight is the fit supposed to be?

The second problem is in the second photo, the winch is right up against the hose assembly in front of the radiator as it is now. As you can see from the pic, the winch is resting right against this hose assembly even thought the winch and mount are not yet fully seated. This means that if I do manage to get the mount seated and the bumper tightened up again, the winch will move backwards an inch or so, and there is no room for it to move back that far if that assembly remains where it is.

The 9.5 cti does have a taller profile then some winches, is it just too big to mount on the budbuilt hidden winch mount plate? Even if the winch is too big though that does not explain why the mount won't drop in behind the bumper like it should.

Loosen the bolts in those holes in the alum bumper. No need to take them out, just loosen.

Just as Phillyd2 said on bumper. Mine was a little snug, but a rubber mallet helped seat mount.

For piping. I had to unbolt from clamps to get my winch in. I then reattached clamps in different locations afterwards. I can't say if the same will hold true for you as my winch is a different make.

Thanks Phillyd2, that did the trick, mission accomplished as seen below. The license plate hangs 1/4 inch too low for the thimble, I think i will trim the bottom, I will have to remove the plate for winching. Anyway, I really appreciate the tip. Your pictures of your install were really helpful too, I moved the piping behind that metal brace as you did. Man that is a dope rig you are rolling!

Thanks to Shawn too, next project will be installing the ABR battery tray you coordinated the order for!

I wanted to mention another tip for future reference for anyone installing the Budbuilt winch mount, if you loosen the bumper a bit to accommodate dropping in the mount, seat the bolts that secure the mount to the frame BEFORE you install the U bolts and tighten the bumper back on. The bolts I am talking about are the ones that go through the hole that the red arrow is pointing at on the second photo below, I left those bolts for last, mine was offline slightly and it was a serious headache getting things lined up so that I could get that bolt in. I stole the second image from phillyd2, I hope that it is not bad form to steal images for educational purposes?

Could not have done any of this without the forum, it has fueled both my appetite and my ability for mods, thanks guys!

Thanks for sharing your installation experiences, I'm glad you finally got it in

Did you ever consider some kind of bracket like this to help with your license plate clearance?

I got one at walmart for pretty cheap (~$5), you basically screw the bracket to the bumper and then screw the license plate to the bracket. Only thing you need to look out for is to not use too long of a screw into the bracket or else it will reach the bumper.
