Budbuilt Hidden Winch Plate and Engo 10K Winch Setup
I recently acquire a used Budbuilt hidden winch plate and a new Engo 10K winch for my 4th gen 4Runner. After looking through all the threads I finally installed them on my 05 4Runner Sport. Instead of duplicating all the steps others have provided I am going to focus on fitment issues I encountered and my solutions to them. This may help others who are considering the similar or same setup.
I am impressed with the quality of the Budbuilt hidden winch. It’s beefy. The issues I encountered along with my solutions are listed below:
First issue you’ll encounter is with the ac line from the condenser. This is an easy fix. Remove the ac line from the bracket and move it backward.
In order to get a flush mount of the winch and winch plate on the front metal bumper I had to drill two holes in the bumper. I didn’t take a picture of the drilled holes.
After much consideration I decided to mount the solenoid box as pictured. I fabricated a couple of brackets to hold the solenoid box and it’s held up well. I am able to install and remove the wired control box with no movement. I like the location of the install.

There’s a couple of fitment issue with the plastic bumper. I end up trimming quite a bit of the plastic to get it to fit with the winch.
The handle to engage and disengage the winch did not clear the plastic cover of the bumper. I end up cutting the handle down.
