Would like to buy a buffing machine and I've been looking around. The Porter Cable has 2 machines the 7424 and the Ultimate.

I have the 7424.....I've seen the UDM, but never heard anything about it.

Isn't the only difference between the two machines is the "ultimate" has a longer, heavier duty cable?

oops - my mistake. The "ultimate" has a heavier duty motor than the standard 7424.

I've used the 7424 and had amazing results.....if you can get the UDM for around the same price as the 7424 then go for it, but if it's more expensive then I would just go with the original.... :bigok:

If your just going to be using this for home use, then I doubt you would need the extra power. The 7424 is perfect for amateur polishing....

I haven't tried the UDM, but I do see more and more e-tailers are carrying them.

I have the 7424 and love it.
