I think Top Gear said the the Buggati Veyron was produced and sold at a loss, i believe they said it cost VW 5 million USD to make each.

I doubt it was setup. If it was, the guy wouldn't have tried to lie about the reason for the crash...

this was just on the news, something about the guy filming it on his cell phone, the driver drove into the water to avoid a pelican, lol
