Build/no build?

I'm a super noob, so go easy on me please!

My 98 limited has 215k miles, some small spots of body rust and some frame rust.
First thing I was planning to do was a Tundra/LC lift, followed by hopefully some Procomps (to allow for 231 Tundra upgrade) with 285's.

Is it worth getting into? hwell:

How long I have before rust gets too bad (salty Utah roads) and do I need to address the rust first before doing the rest?

Get that rust taken care of with a little elbow grease as well as the general maintenance issues and your truck will run as long as you want it to. There are plenty of people with alot more miles that wheel the piss out of their rigs.

I'm going to be doing the same thing, get it taken care of. Look up some of the write ups that others have done. It's a long but worth it project. Plus once you do it, it's outta the way.

I think I'll try out POR15. But from what I've read, the true rust terror is from within. And I don't have a garage, so I don't really know where to do the work.

Look up chassis saver by magnet paints. Supposed to be more effective and cheaper than por15.....

I totally agree, I'm just saying most people use wire brush and wire wheel interchangeably, at least I do haha. Don't cave to technicalities!

I have 0 (zero) first hand knowledge of chassis saver product. My recommendation was to do some research on it because it is "supposed" to have superior effectiveness.

That rust looks cosmetic to me. Clean it up and paint it if it bugs you, but don't let that stop you from building your truck.

If you need a place to work on your rig just ask! There are a lot of us here in Utah that are willing to lend a garage and even a hand! My garage is usually available in the afternoons if you want to drive to Santaquin!

3 months now? So far its doing what its supposed to. I haven't seen anything bubbling up from the treated areas other than where I did not completely cover the rust.
