I did a bit more of a side x side comparo with the 4Runner and my dad's GX. Just looking at the GX, without the 4Runner there to compare it to, it seems bigger. But next to each other, the 4R is a bit taller, and beefer. Larger tires helps :thumb3: I win!
Hooked him up with a set of Cooper AT3's right out of the box when he got the truck. STMAXX on the 4R vs. AT3's on the GX.
Trucks on the left were our rides a decade ago when his suburban (with 300k) was new and my 'Tank' was teaching me how to drive. We have both stepped up a few notches!

damn it looks good. I figured there was a tiny lift in there. I just bought a '16 and am starting my mod, I can't make a thread yet though.

Well thanks, I appreciate the comment. It does look good! But [MENTION=44305]weeeee[/MENTION] is right... She's stock for now, but with a good tax return might come some Old Man Emu's, so keep an eye on my build if you want to see some future updates!

Ha! I just sold my TRD Tundra for a 16 runner. I took a job with GoPro in SF and the Tundra is WAY too big for the bay area. I dig the FJ 4 wheel drive badge. Reminds me of my old FJ the "Zebranator":

Yeah, I have a full size work truck in the Bay Area, and compared to the 4Runner, the work truck is massive! I definitely enjoy my time driving the 4R, and suffer through the work week in the land yacht.

The STMAXX's have been great so far. I also have them on my work truck, and after 35k they are rolling strong! On the 4R they are quiet, smooth, and quite grippy. They're an awesome tire because they bridge the MT/AT gap almost seamlessly. They're not as agressive as either of the two you described (from looking at photos) BUT they are tough as nails, and they are still more agressive than an AT without sacrificing road manors.

Have any rubbing issues popped up on or off-road since you installed them?. I like the looks of these and might go with them as my tire upgrade. Thanks!

I will answer your question with a couple of photos:
The front driver's side will just barely brush the plastic when fully compressed and the wheels turned. But nothing to make anything catch or bind.
The rears have no problem stuffing the Coopers. No rubbing at all.
Awesome tires, in my opinion! Good luck.
