Building myself some new sway bar disconects...lets see how they come out

Bought the collars, they are stainless steel. almost $15 each....oh well. they work perfect. yes you can get them with a zerk. i might change, i dont know about a boot for it, might be looking into that. all the shafts are 3/8. it was about $115 in parts for all 4 links and its all stainless steel.

So instead of completely disconnecting the sway bar from the control arm, you just loosen the slack?

So how does that collar slide down? You don't have to sit there for an hour threading it down, I hope?

When you loosen the collar and allow the sway bar and bushing to slide down the shaft, will the bar force the whole link to rotate? In other words, if you moved the shaft out of the way and rotated the sway bar down towards the lower mount, is the lower mount in the arc swept by the hole in the bar? If not, then you could end up with some unintended forces when the bar and collar slide all the way down the shaft.
You may not have as much of a problem with it bootless if you don't live in the rust belt, but I would think that you would want to be able to lube that thing.

The collar comes off completely or you can thread it down. It becomes so loose it just slides down.
as far as unintended forces, i need to play with it fully flexed but it should be ok. the only one part im concerned about that is really hard to describe. I will play with it and make sure everything clears and works well. more testing will come.

I am definitely interested...I only run a front sway bar so I'll only need the fronts...can't wait to see them installed and working...maybe get a video of them in action?

FINALLY found my camera. Still havent tested them out in real world senerios but this was done with a jack. you can get the idea how it works.
Compressed side
Dropped side. (i pulled the sway bar down to show how it droops but its very hard to do that)
Im concerned if its gets really flexed out and the bar drops it could get caught in the eye holes and bend the rod. but i dont know if its a problem yet.
As far as how they actually work as sway bar links, they are fantastic.

Everything is 3/8-24 thread. they are just the middle of the road ball joints from McMasterCarr.
