Built New Swaybar Endlinks for my Runner

No Problem cj80, glad you found my thread useful. Just an update on mine, they are still holding up great with several thousand miles on them. Only thing i had to do was replace the old rubber bushings i had used off the old links with new poly bushings i got from autozone since they split from being compressed. Heres an updated pic.
And you get enough bushings in the package to do the fronts as well so i went ahead and used them all.

It is creative idea. Might have to do this one myself.
I think the rubber busing on the eye bolt might be overkill. It might offer to much flex at the connection making your ride a little loose. Just mount it with washers nice and tight and let the red bushings do the twisting.
You also need to use a forged eye bolt verses a cold rolled eye bolt for strength.
Should be strong enough, I hang vault doors off those at work

Not sure if Trailmix ever clarified but it looks as though he used forged eye bolts from the beginning like singtoe suggested.

Hmmm, the pics are a bit blurry, but you might be right. I didn't know HD sold forged/cast eye bolts...
I see he added poly bushings to the eye bolt as well. That will certainly cut down the moment applied a bit, but it makes for an odd action when compressed.

This, ive been running sway bar less for a while now. But I just redid my front sway bar quick disconnects a buddy of mine and me put together. I'll post some pics of my front setup hopefully tonight when i re-install the updated version.

Me either Nelson but they look like a closed loop which is not something my HD sales. I had to go to a home town nut and bolt store.

Wish I would have done this earlier. I snapped my front passenger end link 30 minutes before leaving on my snowboarding trip. I had to fork over $25 for a new one at O'Reilly's. I'll be doing this soon as my rear endlinks are pushed to their limits and the front could use some new ones.

Just thought id update this thread and let everyone know how this setup is holding up. I have several pretty hard wheeling trips on them where they've been flexed up and down continuously and they look good as new. The eye bolt has not bent or broken and the poly on the link is holding up great. All in all i think this project was a success and a simple and easy fix for those wanting to retain their swaybar. With these longer links the rear end will stuff all the way into the fenders so you are getting every bit as much flex with them on as you would without any swaybar.

Thanks for the write up trailmix. :cheers: I did this a few months back and as you said, they're holding up great. I wish I could figure out something just as economical for the front!

What about a heim joint to completely deal with the issues of a solid eye bolt?
