Bulb burnt out for climate control display?

my 98 sr5 is the same way. i think it might be the unit itself cause with mine you gan smack it some times and get them to turn on. i was gonna post something about it but just haven't gotten around to it yet. so if anyone has had the same problem info would be great.

Yea, just did this. There are actually 4 lights in the back I'd go ahead and replace all 4 if you have the money. From the dealer it was about $30, I know sounds high but I didn't have an option. Simply pull up the console starting near the ebrake. No need to remove the 4wd section if you have one. Then pull the trim around the radio and work your way up, be gentle. Two screws lets you take out the climate control. Take it out take it apart and replace the bulbs. For someone who hasn't done this job it should take around an hour. Good luck.

do a search on here for this- there's some different options as to the color of lights you can use. It's a simple task, pop off the trim around the shifter, then pop off the trim around the radio ac etc. You may have to take out the ashtray too(cant remember, I deleted mine)There's 2 or 3 plugs up by the vents that need to be unplugged to fully remove the trim. Two screws hold the unit in place, it slides straight out. theres little tabs on the sides that hold the back on, just be careful when you take that off. Once you have the board out, all you'll need is a flat screw driver to change out the bulbs. There's 4 of them, just order all of them(two types) so you wont have to do it again anytime soon.

kinda off topic but is there lights in the driver side door controls? I only have one light lit on the whole section.

I don't think it's as simple as changing the bulbs. I had one lit back there so I took the other ones out. Then I put the lit one in one of the other slots and it didn't work, then back in the old one and it didn't work. Then put it in the ash tray and it worked. And like the guy mentioned above, it would work on and off when you fiddle it. I think it's a wiring issue.:wtf:
