Bulbous ass....

No, I'm not talking about Rosie O'Donnell, I talking about those god forsaken fat bulbous ass tail lights on the 5th gen.
Yes, I bought one and that was one major flaw that really made me think twice.
Who in gods name thought that putting a soccer mom/bug eyed/bulbous tail light on a 4R would be appealing?
It's a f**king 4R......not a mini van you jack loads! I speaking to the engineers/designers/developers...
I have expressed my displeasure to Toyota and asked that they come out with a replacement low profile lamp assembly but we all know how far that will go.

OK, has anyone taken a Sawzall to their lamps to reduce the "muffin top" look coming out the side?
Dynamite anyone?
Someone, sometime, a company HAS to have or is developing a low profile lamp.
I really hope I come across two bull Moose at 50mph and they knock the sh!t off those things.

Have a wonderful evening! :D

I hope my comment doesnt make you go jump off a roof but............

I LIKE MY BULBOUS LIGHTS!

Have you seen the headlights and taillights on most of the autos/trucks today. Lots of plastic surfaces. Lots of rock hit opportunities and very expensive to replace. It's just the way the latest designs are right now. Hopefully the aftermarket industry will design some alternatives.

The boxy style of the latest generation Tacomas and 4Runners is what drew me to them - first from a 99 Taco to my 05 Taco; then from my 05 Taco to my 10 4Runner. I saw the 4Runner in person at SHOT show 2010 and immediately fell in love with it... muffin-top tail lights and all!

I like them as well.....the headlights though? That's a story for another day.

Anyway OP, did you buy your 4r sight unseen online or something?

Think of it this way - if everyone else on the road thinks they're as ugly as you do, maybe they'll be more aware of your presence and therefore less likely to rear-end you...

or maybe they'll be more likely to try to fix the ugly on their own..

I don't mind them, actually. They give me a good frame of reference when I'm backing up in tight parking lots.

Thread title fail,...what a jip man,....

If you hate the bulbous tail lights so vociferously why the F did you buy the truck?

The large lights seem to compliment the overall style/appearance of the 5th Gens, IMHO.

Creative use of the adjective, "Bulbous", though.
