Bull Bar Brand

I like to know what manufacturer makes the strongest, best built, bull bar. I'm trying to prevent from getting an entire bumper.

I only wish they made a 4th generation permanent hidden winch mount, not just a receiver....

I was leaning towards steel craft. Jaos look nice but seems more show then utility. I'm just looking for the center protector, or maybe ill just get a light bar.

All of those brush guards are for show and will most likely cause more harm than good in an accident.
 
I understand that their will be no advantage in a accident. i just didn't want a poor built brand. i'm basically was going to use it for mounting lights, but i just discovered that the ridgid led bar will fit inside my grill if i remove some of the cross sections. I can spend more on lighting rather than a bull bar.
 
Thats what i was looking for, but they don't make them anymore from what i've been reading. Thanks for the link though.
 
I couldn't be happier with my Steelcraft. The addition of my PIAA fogs is one of my favorite mods.

Since you have a 2007 4Runner, you need to be aware that you have the newer front bumper and thus the Steelcraft bull bar will not fit. Steelcraft promised to make new brackets, but never delivered and stopped responding to emails.

I tried to fabricate a mounting solution, but it failed after a while, so I took the bull bar off.

Another guy recently reported the same issue here with a diff brand.

I like the defiant light bar myself: 03-09 4 RUNNER - SHORT TUBE everybody says it strong and it loks allright in the way of light bars. Bull bars are okay it's up to the person, but they sure dont help the approach angle, and are not protecting anything, just a fat light bar really. And if your going to hit a Deer in Utah everybody says to speed up!:eek:

I have the steelcraft bullbar on my 04...definitely flimsy due to the fact its only bolted to the frame on on the bottom. I've been looking around at home depot lately to try and make my own brackets that will mount from the frame to a higher part on the vertical part of the bars. Kind of hard to describe, but once it's finished, I'll post pics. But to get back on track, the bar itself is built strong.

How long have you had your bull bar? I know the steelcraft use to be the best one to get because it mounted in four places, not two like most others.

well steelcraft comes with four mounting points, you got screwed at some point if yours only came with the bottom two

Yeah...that was the tutorial I wrote up. Sadly, the metal pieces I used as temporary gaps eventually gave out, so I had to take the bull bar off. Really bummed that Steelcraft did not follow through on the new brackets for the later model 4th gen 4Runners.

I plan to sell the bull bar to anyone with an earlier 4th gen 4Runner.
