Bull Bar installation - photos, steps, and chaos

ya, puttin on my steelcraft was a bit of a b@#%h. but man its so much greater than that wimpy westin! (although the westin did serve its purpose, saving me thousands on front end repair when it got destryoed!)

On monday I purchased the black steelcraft bull bar from autoanything.com for 170+ with shipping included. I recieved the part today and got the bull bar installed in less than one hour. Thanks for all the great instructions.

I also wanted to let all those who are thinking about this bull bar to know that I had no trouble with installation in a 2008 SR5 4WD model. I dont know if they have changed anything recently but there was enough space around the bumper and installation was a breeze.

If anyone is interested Ill post pictures.

I'm really glad I had the tutorial too! It helps a lot to not tighten everything down till the end. Mine installed pretty painlessly on the 04 as well... no straps of steel needed.

now just add some lights... it make a difference in the look!

U p d a t e ! !

UPDATE: I gave up on Steelcraft following through on their promise to send new brackets. The little tabs I originally fab'd proved inadequate, resulting in the bull bar sagging on one side. I pulled the bar off and examined the brackets to see if if I could change something. I noticed I had a full inch of fwd travel for the top brackets before they collided with a frame stop. By drilling a new hole an inch back from the foremost hole in the base of the top brackets, I was able to resolve the mounting issue.

prashidi, did the one you just ordered/installed have all 4 mounting points or just the bottom 2?

I've been lurking here for many months and never seen a reason to register. Your tutorial, however, was like a godsend. I ordered an Aries bullbar (it's gotta be like a dodge/chrysler/plymouth thing with these companies) and it was identical to yours, down to the $#!t instructions. I called the manufacturer and was hung up on 3 times when I asked for better instructions.

I came straight here, searched the forums and found this tutorial. jediwebdude, I can't even begin to thank you enough for what you did, it literally walked me through what I needed to do and I had it on in no time flat. Thank you very much!
