Hefty Fabworks is probably the way im going. They put the hitch up a little higher than most for better departure angle. I need to call these guys and ask if I can get aluminum swingouts for a steel bumper.

Fyi

So currently (of the 2 Hefty Fab 5th Gen rear bumper options - steel or aluminum) the steel bumper is the only way to get an integrated high clearance hitch, which is built right into the bumper. site lists raw weight with single swing-out tire carrier as 175lbs. The aluminum version, raw weight with single swing-out is 63 lbs, but only available with the drop hitch.

sent an email off to Mr. Hefty and received some exciting news! he replied that they are working on a solution to that drop hitch now and expect to have a high clearance hitch aluminum bumper available soon! :llama:

Not entirely true. the labs bumper not only has integrated hitch, but the highest clearance of all of them.

ya sorry my post wasn't very clear as i re-read it.
other companies do offer rear bumpers with high clearance hitches like 4x4 Labs and Southern Style Offroad. specifically i meant of the 2 options hefty fab offers for the 5th gens (steel or aluminum) one can only get the high clearance hitch on the steel version. they are now working on a high clearance option for their aluminum version. will rephrase my earlier post for clarity

Whatever you do get a bumper with the spindles installed already. You may find you eventually do want to add in the swing arms and while it is possible to weld them in, they'll never as as strong as they'd be had they been installed from the beginning. You can always use a spindle cover and add on a swing arm later. Just keep that in mind.
