Ok, so had big fun at the offroad park Sunday. But I left with two busted tail lights, among other trail rash.

Do these guard things actually do anything?

To say I really don't care for the way they look would be a massive understatement. But damn... this is ~$200 in damages.

I'll let the passenger side ride as is... but still.

I haven't seen a set of the bolt-on light guards that were worth anything, mostly due to how they're mounted.

What are you rocking for a rear bumper? Does it wrap around the quarter panels, and can you fab a set of hoops that come up to the level of the tail lights?

Not the best example I've seen, but something like this:

I'm still rocking a stock bumper, but with plans to build a steel one. I hit a tree on the drivers side... probably on the passenger side as well. So I don't know how much a hoop would help.

I have an idea for some custom armored tail lights but it would take a lot of time. And thats not something I have an excessive amount of currently.

Sorry to hear, but crap happens when you 'road. Like KID said, the way they are mounted pretty much renders them useless, most of them are eye candy. If you hit another tree/rock/, that object will push/pull the lens it's supposed to protect. They are usually mounted using the same mounts as the lights.

But hey, at least your door jams are clean!!!! :peep:

Those guards are damage multipliers, better to bust the light then bend the body where they are mounted
