I recently had to say goodbye to my volvo wagon after many complications. Im looking into buying a 4runner. My budget is around 10,000-15,000, for this i have seen many 04-07's but most have had around 100k miles or higher. Should i be weary? What are some immediate problems that can be forseen? I've seen a few around 75k miles within my price range. Any advice good or bad would be much appreciated. Thank you guys!

I know you posted this at 15something, and honestly, that is probably why you're only going to get this response.
Everyone on this forum sees these "buying" threads, at least once a day. That's why there are "Buyers Guides" in each section.
Read those. Then, search for "buying 4Runner, need advice-Toyota-4Runner forum" in Google. Read those.
If you have any more specific questions after reading those, feel free to ask them.
I'm sorry if I'm coming off as a penis. There is a plethora of knowledge on this forum. You can find 99.9999999% of what you want to know by searching.
A lot of guys don't have problems answering SPECIFIC questions. But when you see the same topic time and time again, it gets kinda old.
Again, please don't take me as being like this all the time. I'm really not. I'm trying to help YOU out here. Search, read, search some more. Anything after that, ask your questions. This will save you, and the forum, from reposting and adding threads that have already been covered.

Any high mileage vehicles have high risk of sucking money out of your pocket. Maybe, you need to ask yourself...do you REALLY need a 4runner? You survived with a Volvo wagon. Gas prices are climbing these days. 4runners are decent...but they drink gas, maybe more so as they age (as do all cars). You have a fairly low budget. Maybe buying a gas guzzler with high mileage is not a great idea at this time????
Are you a mechanic or good with your hands? Are you still in school?? Do you have a stable income?
Just my opinion...and just being practical....

I like other have said there is lots of information on here about this. That said, if you want one you should get one. They are great vehicles and I would not be one bit scare to buy one with over 100,000 miles on it if it had been taken care of. Not a lot of specific problems that I can come up with off the top of my head. Good luck with the search. :frog:

Next time if you don't want to come off as a "penis" try to start without the holier than thou attitude. Yes, I could have spent time searching for this but did I? No, so next time you attempt to educate a noob like me try taking a more "green" approach. I have a '98 (different chassis/motor), but it has 197,000 on the clock. Never spent a day in the shop. Yes, I have replaced quite a few wearable parts, but it has never left me on the side of the road or trail. I know a few people personally all in the 100k's with no issues. If it's been well maintained you will most likely have a solid truck. Yes any higher mileage vehicle costs more to maintain than a new one, but in my experience these trucks are much cheaper to own later in their life than most vehicles. That being said I'd try to find one with lower miles, that 75k range would be ideal. You're most likely not going to be looking at doing balljoints, radiators, drive shafts, u joints, and other fairly significant parts as soon in the lower mileage truck. I won't comment on the MPGs, I'm sure you're aware of what it costs to drive a 4x4 rig around. I highly recommend all types of Toyota vehicles, but if you're looking for an SUV I think this is about the best all arounder you can buy.
