Buying aftermarket hitch few questions.

My 07 v6 4runner came without a hitch but has the trailer light bracket on it. MY question is i have been looking at the Hidden Hitch 70779 or the Curt 13445 or this hitch from suspension connection http://www.suspensionconnection.com/cgi-bin/suscon/243.html. My question is what am i supposed to do with the trailer light bracket and where i plug the trailer lights into. Can it be left where it is or do the hitches have places where it can be remounted. I have been reading on the site and it looks like all will fit without and trimming. Just want to know who has what and how was the install.

Did your 07 come with an adapter harness for an electric brake controller? The owner's manual says it is stored in the glove box.

No there is nothing in my glove box, I bought it used so i have no idea. Here is a picture to what i am talking about

With that connector there the hard part is done. Your trailer will have a cable on it with a connector that will plug right into it. As far as the receiver hitch is concerned, I would check with a Toyota dealer, they can probably sell you a factory receiver that will bolt onto the rear frame crossmember. My 06 has one and it is held on by 4 bolts. How heavy is your trailer? If it is over 1000lb you will need a brake controller also.

I wount be towing much but i was wanting an aftermarket. I thought the stock ones were harder to put on and required removing the bumper?

i just put a factory hitch on my 04 4runner. the bumper only takes a couple minutes to get off. the whole job took about 30 - 40 minutes. i love it. had it sandblasted and sprayed it with bedliner spray paint looks great.
