Buying new rims... will these tires fit? 305/40/22

Hey guys im building a 97 4runner as a sponsor truck for DUB rims (yes i know off-road guys you will not like this) but regardless Toyota makes a great SUV and thats why I chose it.


So anyways.... the wheels that are being forced upon me are 305/40/22

my question is.... has anyone ever fit a wide tire like this on their 4runner? I know 305 is thick... I wanted to go 275-285... but regardless.... will these rub you think?

will they rub on a stock 97? of course. can you fit 305s with lift? absolutely.

305s will fit with 3" suspension and 1" BL... they may rub a little but you can make it work.

Will you really need that much?? It's a wide tire, but it's only 31.6" tall.

ah, sorry i misread your post and thought they were 305/75's...

my fault.

if its 31.6, id guess with a small body lift or a small spacer lift (1-1.5") you can fit em... you may need some wheel spacers, im not sure how that goes with 22's.

The 305's will definitely rub. As far as ride performance, it is going to suck. I've had my share of dubs on my 01' SR5 and not one gave me a smooth ride. Dealer and others have said our trucks are strong enough to handle that rim size.

Yes, they will rub. My 275's touch the inside of the fender if I turn the wheels all the way to the right or left.
