Buying out of state 4runner

I am currently looking to buy a runner in Utah, I live in WA. Should there be any concerns for registering it here? I figure the only problem might be emissions.

If you're from Washington and wanna buy out of state, might as well go California. Virtually no rust concerns! Unless its from the Sierra Nevadas.

You have to watch out for leans that don't always show up on the title but become a problem when you want to register it. Be sure and check the Carfax too.

smog probably isnt crazy in wa like it is in ca, but i just bought a t4r out of state, it was really easy registering it filled out 2 extra papers. one thing i did learn was that 02 was the first year the runner was 50 state legal, and i think some 00-01 were to. Correct me if im wrong.

I bought mine in Cali and had no issues registering it here.

Death and Taxes.....

The first thing I would research is this thing called taxes. Most states are money hungry, so I'd check the sales tax in the surrounding states. If you pay MORE in one state, then register it in another, you will lose that money. The DMV will ask to see your bill of sale.

Be careful, my brother got caught up in a scam. He purchased an Acura TL in orlando, flew there, picked up the car/title drove it back. When he went to title it there was a 4000 lean against it. The guy did a title pawn thing, then applied for a duplicate title and then sold the car to my brother.

I really think I am going to stay in state. I don't want to deal with any of those problems.
