BXBuilt lead times in 2021

Ok I have a stupid question, I see for rvsbuilt it says $610 for my options. I was assuming that was for a set but it says qty 1. Is that really just one light?

I have a silver 4runner should I get black or chrome housing? All the pics I see on IG I can’t tell what color the housing is, just looks like glass.

Since they aren't asking about which side, and that price being in line with what others charge for a set, I would guess that the quantity is how many sets you want, and not individual lights. But the only way to be sure is to ask them.

As far as the housing, stock housings are chrome, but some people like going to black for the housing to change the look of the lights when they are off. When the lights are on it won't really impact anything.

I’m going to get rid of the front chrome bumper and go with a black heavy one so that’s why I was thinking maybe black would be good. I still don’t even know what they mean about the housing.

My turn to contribute

The housing is essentially the "background" of the light. The inside of the back cover. What you see when you look at the headlight assembly that is NOT the projector/bulb/actual light.

Like the other guy said, something you only notice when the light is off. And yeah, I'm pretty sure that's for the pair since it does not specify L or R.

My lead time was close to a year. I finally got around to installing them and could not get the aim anywhere near where it was supposed to be. The headlight was also not tight in the housing. So, I took the lights out of the Eagle Eyes housing and put them back in my OEM housings and everything lined up as it should.

The lights look great, but if I had to buy again, I definitely would look into the competition because the wait time was wildly unreasonable.

Bought mine during their black friday sale in November of 2020 and didn't get them till late July of 2021. At the time they said that they were experiencing supply problems the couple times I called them, though it sounds like they either haven't sorted them out or are just using it as an excuse at this point. I love the lights now that I have them and they've been great for the past year and a half, though if I were to do it again I'd most likely buy their DIY kit as the lead time was pretty crazy then and it sounds like its gotten worse.

Trying to decide whether to pull the trigger…

So rvsbuilt says lumens are 800 each bulb.

I have some led bulbs in there now which say they are 6000 lumens a set. The beam pattern sucks though and I can’t see well enough at night with these but since the rvsbuilt ones have what seems to me like a super low lumens output I’m hesitant to buy them. My Alfa Romeo has great led lights, I’m really looking to match what a newer cars lights output so I can freakin see.

[MENTION=713413]drpepper68[/MENTION] it's generally been my experience that 'offbrand' lighting manufacturers literally pull lumen/watts/candlepower/whatever numbers out of their ass. The market is flooded with junk and wild performance claims and it's almost impossible to prove or verify what they say.

I think I understand now after doing some reading. It’s not really just the lumens it’s the reflectors that throw the light. I have stock halogen projectors which aren’t made for led bulbs. That’s my issue, it doesn’t throw light far enough down the road for my eyes.

I ordered the headlights and took about 9mo in 2020/2021. Still can't get the headlights to angle further down as needed. If I were to buy again I would look at other brands more closely. The headlights do look nice, however.

I wish there were just a set of assemblies made for just putting in an LED bulb. I did that with my civic, bought inexpensive whole assemblies which were made for using an LED bulb and they work great. Very cheap.

Are these rvsbuilt ones actually HID? I saw some options say HID, I thought they just took regular LED bulbs.

I didn't order 3rd gen retrofits, but I've been waiting for my retrofits since Black Friday of LAST YEAR. I contact them every month through email and it's always been about shortage of housings. After waiting this long, I wouldn't be surprised if I never received them at all. I see them pushing Black Friday sales this year for the same item I ordered last year and still haven't received.

Just cancel them bro. Everyone who has waited longer than their original lead time, just freaking cancel already.

I generally give vendors the benefit of the doubt, but this behavior is unacceptable, period. The parts are available. They are just in over their heads and can't keep up.

The ethical business practice would be to stop taking so many orders until you get back to a reasonable lead time, not pushing sales on Instagram while you have orders waiting over a year. Oh and closing the ENTIRE SHOP for a week to go to a wedding, and then dropping a discount code 5 minutes later!

Really classy guys. I would not be surprised to see them out of business before too long. All it will take is enough people doing chargebacks on their cards, as I've heard more than a few accounts of getting the run around from TEQ just trying to get a refund.

FYI BX was banned from the Headlight Junkies facebook group, which is pretty much The Retrofit Source's group (admins and mods are TRS employees), because of the constant issues members had with BX...TRS owns Morimoto, GTR Lighting, and Xenon Depot.

All lights are custom made to order by hand after 7 days we have put in all orders for parts because of the shortages things take way longer to get and are non refundable on our end. You can for sure sell the lights in the after market for a profit with no lead time or we can move your build to another car or truck. Let me know what you would like to do moving forward.
