Cabin air filter - rodent nest heaven!!!

My #4 lived most of it's life inside an airplane hanger so they got everywhere. Also found a nest and mouse skeleton under the supercharger.
I was cleaning out the inside of the frame before I painted it. Using compressed air on an 1/8" hose I was expecting to see dirt and rocks. Got out a trashcan of nesting material!

Is the screen used just fencing you can buy from lowes or home depot?

You can buy it at either place, it comes in a roll, so you'll be buying more than you need, it's specifically called "hardware" cloth, in comes in different sizes as far as the amount on a roll and the little square openings are concern, the size you need is 1/4", one poster said he used stainless steel, but you want find that at Home Depot or Lowe's, what they sell is galvanized which is rust resistant and will work just fine.

If you have a old time hardware store in your area they may have a roll that they will cut off enough to do what you need to do, but if you have a buy a roll it can be use for other areas around the house where you may have openings that are allowing rodents and or other wildlife to get in or under your house, it's also used on the lower protion of screen doors to keep pets from ripping the screen and getting out or if someone bumps the screen to hard with their leg/foot and ripping the screen.

Can someone give me some advice on how to clean the filter housing? It is easy enough to change the filter, mine had a hole chewed through it, but I wasn't really able to clean the housing below that. It is tough to access. Thanks a lot.

Yea if you got mice in your garage get rid of them before they do damage to your wires. So many of us in the sw have paid 1000s in repairs fixing damages those turds can do your electrical system. Mouse traps and sticky paper works incredibly well. I refuse to have them in my garage to crap all over my stuff and to eat at the wires of my vehicles

Just changed my cabin air filter today and it was pretty bad. I also took a moment to change my engine air filter, and that is where I found mouse bedding stuck against it. Does anyone know where the intake for the engine air is?

The intake air enters in the passenger's side wheel well.
