Cabin filter - deodorant vs pollen?

My 30k service is coming up and I’m ordering filters. When I did a part search on OEM sites (e.g. TRDSparks), the cabin filter shows two variants: Deodorant and Pollen. Correct me if I’m wrong, but there’s only one cabin filter, correct?

Which one do you all use? The price difference is about $1.

"deodorant" probably = charcoal filter; and "pollen" probably = regular paper filter.

Cabin Filter

I bought the Fram filter thinking it was better. Looks like it has fewer pleats and less surface area than the original. Next time I'll try an OEM filter and hope it's looks like the original. The original also had a section of fiber on top that looked like a pre-filter.

why not just buy a washable reusable furnace filter from lowes or home depot and cut it to size?... one time expense. I've done it on all my vehicles and works like a charm.

No real point in getting the deodorant (it just has activated carbon which will work for about 2 days). The pollen one is just a normal paper/cloth filter, and is really all you need. Just go with something like a Denso and it'll be fine.

I ended up ordering the OEM cabin air filter called "Pollen Filter" (p/n 87139-07010) for $28, and here's the photo for anybody wondering what it looks like. The original cabin filter I pulled out was charcoal colored on the post-filter side, which makes me think it's the OEM "Deodorant Filter" variant that sells for $27. And to preempt the "your filter was charcoal colored because it was dirty" comments, I changed my engine air filter at the same time and it was still white.

I hope this helps anyone looking to order the OEM cabin filter and is confused by the choices.

Changing cabin filter 5th gen

How hard is it to change the 5th gen cabin filter? Is it like the 4th gen by having to remove the glove box? I know someone has written about it on here but cannot seam to find it.

I was just talking about the cabin filter with a friend last night. I drove through a swarm of butterflies outside of Yosemite several months ago and last week noticed a dead butterfly starting to work its way through my driver-side dash vent.. not sure how something that size could make it through unless there's a leak in the system somewhere.
