CAI Sound Clips

I just got $300 to spend so of course that goes to my build. I wanted y'all opinion on what I should do.

I'm somewhat unsatisfied with my car's sound after my magnaflow (too quiet) and am thinking about getting a cold air intake. I am also looking at some Morimoto Halo retrofit LEDs bc halos are sick.

I only want to get a CAI if it's absolutely gonna sound awesome and was wondering if anyone has some sound clips or could take some to help me decide.

I think the general consensus here is that while a CAI may sound good, it really doesn't do anything as far as power goes. I think you'd be happier with the Morimoto retro's myself! It may not sound better, but it'll look excellent! Maybe even do the Morimoto's and an AFE dry filter??

And that Magnaflow will sound better(louder) with time. As time goes by it'll get louder because the fiberglass in there will start to break down.

You're stock intake is a CAI. Intake temps are 2-4°F less than ambient.

I know that in general unless you leave a cai hanging out of your car like an elephant trunk it won't be better than stock. I'm just looking for better sound.

I'm probably gonna do the morimotos since I don't wanna spend $300 for sound that will most likely reduce hp by 1 or 2.
[MENTION=112248]cpark_12[/MENTION] how long normally does it take to break in. I know they're supposed to. Mine is also lightly used since my friend had it on his JK and was unsatisfied with the sound from his Vshits (as he calls it) so it's mine now.

Also I'll take some measurements and do a write up since it seems like no one ever has.
 
I'll probably get flamed for this and know there are haters. But, heres my 2 cents

I have personally tried the K&n , Volant and truflow drop in. the one thing i like for sure is the fact I can clean them after going off road or dusty roads. I have not seen any dust in any of my intake tubes. this beats dropping in a new paper filter everytime you go on a fire road. I dare you to check cabin and engine filter after a really dusty road

As far as power i feel a difference on the freeway when you step on it. When i step on it without a CAI it feels like its choking or the power band becomes flat. I want to make a shorter tube and filter that doesn't take much space. that way i can fit more goodies.

to each there own and i got 35's on and any little bit can help. no sound clips though.
 
i know that on a dyno you probably wouldnt see a difference with a cai. that being said, i feel a difference on the highway as mentioned and taking off, and most of that is due to better throttle response, which was certainly a noticeable difference for me. stock may read 2-4* cooler than ambient air, my k&n on my v6 has read as low as 10* cooler than ambient air even after significant run time
 
I have yet to see a performance engine that doesn't run a cone filter. there is a lot of people that say they muck up sensors and let dirt in. If you are incapable of cleaning, oiling and maintaining a filter then you really shouldn't use one.

CAI or the cone filter definitely adds some power. Flow is power and stock boxes bends and those tiny little flatted ducts restrict flow.

Paper filters are for grandmas minivan

I don't really know at max I'd say 2 or 3 months but probably more like 1. He changes his exhaust like every month to try and make the Jeep engine sound good.

And I already bought the Halos since I didn't really want to spend all of my money at once. But it's good to know that it does make a difference.
