About 2 years ago, I had the misfortune of suffering from the pink milkshake. I've limped the trans along since but it's finally given up. In preparation for this day, I purchased a salvage truck from a member here, and decided to swap out the motor as well, since mine had over 315k and leaked oil like CRAZY! Started the monumental task this past weekend, pulled the motor and trans from the donor truck very easily, pulled the same from my truck with a bit more difficulty, but nothing TOO crazy. That's when it went down hill. It appears that the donor is a cali emissions truck, mine is not. Physically, the only differences I can identify are the exhaust (easily solved at an exhaust shop) and the dipstick for the trans (swap pans, no biggie). My concern now, however, is one I have not been able to determine an answer to... is there anything ELECTRONICALLY different, or anything I'm missing that's going to give me grief? Everything appears on the surface to be physically compatible, minus the aforementioned 2 issues... anyone have any insight?
