California

Stunning

and this is why I CCW when i walk my dog along the bike paths in CA. Even 5 years ago, it wasn't this bad, but the homeless problem has gotten pretty bad.

What bike trail is that? No single woman or family should be on that trail.

Sad

We worry about everyone else and we can't even care of our own. Pathetic, this should run 24/7 on every news outlet. Really terrible to see and this is not the only area or state with this happening.

It's called the Santa Ana River Trail. I used to road bike it a few years back when none of the homeless were there. It was nice because you could literally ride for miles without having to worry about mixing it up with vehicle traffic.

The homeless encampments seemed to appear overnight. Haven't been there since, nor will I.

The government is literally cleaning house as we speak:

https://www.ocregister.com/2018/01/...heres-a-timeline-of-how-we-got-to-this-point/

The situation is pretty much a disaster. People on the right accuse the homeless of being lazy parasites. People on the left say the government isn't doing anything to create low-income housing, and sky-high housing prices are to blame. Meanwhile, there's nowhere for them to go.

Personally I think the cause is somewhere in the middle, but government is definitely to blame one way or another. I tend to lean right in these matters. The government should help the mentally ill and those with drug addiction but for the rest, nobody has a God-given right to live in Orange County. If it's too expensive here, move somewhere else and take some responsibility. I don't want a bunch of Frank Gallaghers squatting in my back yard....

But when your government is broke there is little they can do.

True

That's the thing... they're not broke. They have tons of money. They just grossly misspend it, time and time again.

That’s a better way to say it. There needs to be an audit on state and federal spending. Could you imagine how crazy the results would be.

california's spending is way out of control. You have to come here to see it. We spend a ton of money on illegal immigration and the poor, with no oversight. Guess what happens, it attracts more illegal immigrants and homeless people, and also jacks up the prices of everything (from housing to food) due to the artificial inflation created by free money.

Then you have the pet projects and corruption, which is even more insane. Were talking about bullet trains to nowhere (Literally nowhere), land grabs by politiicans who then sell it to developers (who happen to be their spouses) for cheap, a state pension not paid for by investments but from tax revenue (you heard that right) with a set interest rate.

The reason for this insanity is california literally only has a one party system (democrats control everything), which is not okay because there is no check or balances or hedges to their power. So basically now all they do is raise our taxes for some greater good, but then siphon the money to other things. This not only pisses off moderates like me, but makes the fringe groups even more mad because the money that is earmarked for them, don't actually make it to them, and then thats when they start rioting.....

Its ludacris, and the majority of california keep voting for these idiots over and over again, because nobody wants to be labeled as a nazi, or kkk, or racist.........

Honestly I would leave california in a heart beat but I can't because I'm a slave to my student loans and my pharmd license to practice is only valid in california and is nonreciprocating in the other states. I literally can't leave.

The light rail project is criminal. You can get a flight from SFO to LAX for less than what a damn train ticket will cost and, newsflash, planes move 8-10 times faster than trains. Fineswine is getting rich off of it, tho.

The welfare state is out of control. No one works.

The taxes, both state and property, are out of control.

Housing prices are insane.

There are too many damn people. I got stuck in reverse commute traffic on a 'typical' afternoon in Palo Alto and it took me 1.5 hours to travel 0.75 of a mile.

There are very crappy gun rights, unless you're fortunate enough to live in a county like Solano where the Sheriff isn't a liberal fascist and will issue you a CCW permit, even then ammo sales and gun types are restricted.

Everything is illegal.

Everything was on fire last year and Governor Moonbeam cared more about third gender legislation than aiding with the Norcal Fires.

Crime is rampant. You can murder someone in SF if you're an illegal and get away Scot free. Cops don't do shit about property crime because they've been ordered to stand down since arresting people is mean.

I got lucky with my CCW since I deal with money and drugs, lol.

Yeah the cops are too chicken shit to do anything these days becasue they dont want to end up in front of a jury or worse, on youtube.

Riding BART is, at best, asking to be mugged, at worst to have your head kicked in.

Don't forget CARB - California Air Resources Board, a group of unelected bureaucrats who've been given nearly $1B per year to come up with imaginative new ways to control and manipulate the automotive industry.

Here's another little tidbit that I love: Prior to being elected as one of our two senators, Kamala Harris used to be our state Attorney General. The AG's office was able to get an extra $86M out of Volkswagen - just for California - as part of the Dieselgate settlement. Here's my favorite part:

http://www.autonews.com/article/20160707/OEM/160709912/vw-to-pay-$86m-in-civil-penalties-to-california-over-emissions

The latest settlement between officials for Volkswagen and California, the nation's most populous state, provides for $76 million to be paid to Harris' office to defray costs relating to investigation and litigation of the emissions scandal, according to court documents.

The other $10 million will be dedicated to grants for government agencies and universities, to be used in part to study technology that can help detect so-called "defeat devices," which on Volkswagen cars produced false results during diesel emissions tests, Harris' office said.

Are you fvcking kidding me? Kamala Harris blew $76M "investigating" Dieselgate? All she did was ride the fed's coattails. The actual do-good portion of the settlement was a very small fraction while the rest went to feed another government bureaucracy. And the brilliant people of CA elected her to be our senator... Alas, our other choice was another Democrat, Loretta Sanchez. Those were literally our only two choices. Dumb and dumber. There was no Republican candidate. We're literally a one party state.

Kamala is a nut job, you guys should watch her in some of the questions she was asking potential nominees for cabinet positions/cia/fbi/etc.

She asked the nominee for CIA director what he will do about global warming.... You should have seen the look on the nominee's face....lol.

She's also well known for asking stupid questions to then nominee for AG, Jeff Sessions.

Both interviews are very entertaining, and can be watched in their entirety on youtube.

Anyways, she is considered a rising star and a possible presidential candidate during the next presidential election. Not sure if thats good or bad, but she has a lot of baggage and I don't think she will get very far bc of:
1. anti-2nd amendment right
2. wants open borders
3. known for having extramarital affairs.

The current caliifornia AG Barrera (sp?), is a riot also. He wants to stay in the limelight and will say the darnest things in the media.

Let's just be honest, her political career was launched because she slept around with an old married man to get her job.

She also has an almost Elizabeth Warren-esque habit of blathering and talking out of turn for the sole purpose of someone shutting her the hell up so she can whine about how she is being silenced and #shepersisted.

All her political beliefs are to the left of Che, as to be expected of a Norcal lib.

https://bpr.berkeley.edu/2015/04/19/californias-welfare-benefits-boom-or-bust/

I misquoted, 33% of welfare recipients IN THE US live in California.

I just wanted to add to your statitstics...

THe liberal left can't grasp the idea, that no matter how rich california is, if we spend what we don't have, we will be broke, even more than the poorest "red" state.

The poor red states may not contribute much in federal taxes, but they don't spend as much either. Thats why that 33% statistic matters alot, more so than the tax revenue statistic.

California generates alot in federal tax revenue, but most of that revenue ends up going back to california in forms of federally funded aid programs (like what we give to 3rd world countries). This is why no matter how much the california politicians cry, the federal government always has california by the balls. No federal funds, no federal aid, no free money to pass around.

Kalifornia is a sanctuary state and from what I understand, the homeless are welcome to set up camp pretty much anywhere. That is Kalifornia's mo and the reason why for that 33% IMO. This enables the left to keep power in that state by getting easy votes from the homeless and others that have sanctuary in that state. How is that high speed rail coming along anyway? Right on budget lol! And how does someone like the governor continue to be elected?

I have never been to Kalifornia and I probably will never go. It looks like a beautiful state but my money is not going to support the ignorance there. I would never live there either and if I did I would be vote by leaving. So many cheaper and better places to live with more freedom.
