Caliper paint?

2015 Limited, Blizzard Pearl. Thinking about painting the calipers red when I rotate the tires. Already has the red shocks. Think it is too much or would it look good? I have painted calipers on a couple of accords we owned in the past and it looked pretty good.

Just not sure what it would look like on the T4R. Anyone have one? Any thoughts?

Like just spray paint them willy nilly like most everyone does so you can see the over spray and bare caliper, or actually take them off/mask them and paint them proper like? I mean honestly I have seen so many attempts at painting calipers and all off them look horrible unless you're taking the caliper off/masking it and doing it right.

Red might not be a bad colour, it's a bit over done; but it looks okay with white. A darker Gold or Bronze may not be a bad idea either.

I would definitely do it correctly as my previous vehicles. Agree completely that the shortcut looks bad. Kinda like the gold idea and will give it thought. Not so much looking for bling, but the 20's do show a lot of caliper.

Never underestimate the power of black. Throw some white vinyl TRD logos on there then clear coat over it a bunch and BAM good to go

I used g2 paint on mine the outcome was great, anyway I'm going to powder coat them soon for a way better finish/ looks. Good luck !

I don't know what color your rims are, but I was thinking like this kind of gold/bronze to match the white:

A nice Black also wouldn't hurt.

The rims are factory 20". After looking at more pics online I am thinking about black, since the rims have a lot of black on them. Thanks for the tips!

Seems to me, the LE is already plenty blingy. I vote "no". You are not a Porsche.

Not much shows through the wheels, but the paint isn't just for show, it seems to keep everything cleaner

My experience with homemade caliper paint, even with perfect preparation, is that it does last very long before degrading begins. Maybe it's because of our winters with the high amount of calcium, and in georgia you would be ok, but that is something to think about.

Do it. Just do it right.

I had mine powder-coated at a local place and it lasted years with no wear. Still looked new when I sold the car last year.

I did not think that trying to have a clean, detailed look meant bling. My purpose would be a clean look showing attention to detail.

I absolutely concur. I have had many cars where I paint the rotors and calipers to cover up corrosion. I always paint the rotor hats and edges silver high temp, and the calipers either black or silver. No one notices that I painted them...they simply note how clean the vehicle is. My wife's RX350 has rotors and calipers all painted silver and looks like it rolled off the showroom floor.

Many cars in the last 10+ years (4runner included) come with zinc plated or painted calipers already - so ignore the off base 'bling' comments.

I painted mine a few weeks ago using the Dupli-color brush on kit and they came out excellent. Left the front calipers on and carefully masked and removed the rears to do it. Here are the results:

Looks good! Where'd you get the TRD decals?

Found the decals on ebay. They came as a large set for the front and a smaller set for the rear but the small set fit perfectly on the front. The rear calipers do not have anywhere to put decals.

About two weeks ago I saw some guy with driving some German car (VW?) with those big rims and skinny tires, painted front calipers, and he had drums in the back, LMAO.
