I'll be replacing carpet soon and was hoping to see photos of anyone who has replaced their carpet. The brand and name of the color would be awesome along with the pics. Also mass backing or not?

I'm curious to see what others have gone with.

I really hated the tan and I thought green to match the Imperial Green Metallic Body would work. There is still too much tan, a color I despise, but I hope to do more in the future. Turn the brown into charcoal with that vinyl shrink stuff...In the meantime, I love the carpet--feels nicer than the factory when new (I think, that was a long time ago.) Definitely get the mass backing.

Holy Shit that's ... green! Pretty cool actually as I'm a fan of green things like money and herbs! I can dig the matching mats too. Nice!

I would if I could, but the PO was Fred Flinstone and he literally dug a hole through the driver floor board all the way to the metal. Plus the rest is nearly as bad and nasty as all hell too.

I probably have the nastiest carpets on the forum.

while we're on the subject of carpeting, hopefully this isn't too much of a thread jack...

Anybody notice the carpet feeling lumpy down near the gas pedal? Mine is no longer "stuck" to the center "hump" down near the floor where my foot rests on the gas pedal. Small problem, but kinda a big PITA. I've gotta fight the lumpy bulge from the outside of my right foot to comfortably find the gas pedal.

Was considering replacing the entire carpet, but don't want something new to be lumpy as well. If I do go new carpet route, I want it pulled tight.

Anybody got lumpy replacement carpet problems?

PO did it. Been cutting it up for the past 2 weeks on all the parts he just crammed into corners w/o trimming. Getting better but as you can tell, lots more work to be done.

It's substantially thicker than the outgoing carpet, and it is worse at following floor contours so it looks a bit amateurish unless you put floor mats on it.

FWIW (disregard the el cheap-o "all weather" mats) you can just see the corners of the factory "oak" 4Runner limited floor mats in the pictures if you want a color match.

Not exactly carpet (and likely not for you) but definitely durable and good looking. Didn't really notice any increase in road noise either. I can clean my floors with a hose and sprayer, don't have water trapped in my carpet rusting my floor boards and don't really need floor mats anymore either.

It molded to fit but you have to trim the edges & cut out the holes.
You lay your old carpet over the new one & mark all of the cuts with chalk.

Mine was the same. Don't underestimate the work involved, especially with the mass backing fighting you as you try to make pretty holes. I'd say it took the better part of a full day, and I was tuckered by the end.

It's actually vinyl. I had a few square yards left over from an earlier project and figured what the hell.
Used basic 3m headliner spray and some staples to attach it.
Had to completely dismantle the door panel.
The console lid is just stapled, with some craft foam.

Winner! Nastiest carpet on the forum!

This is what my carpet looks like. It was even worse when I got it but I've managed to "clean" it up a tad in the last 50,000 miles.

Pretty sure I still have the nastiest carpets in the forum. I try to hide the carpets with floor mats buts let's be real — you can't hide this level nasty.

Thankfully they don't smell. I wash and vacuum my truck every week.

Now that I've gotten a lot of maintenance things out of the way. I'll start working on spiffing things up a bit. Carpets are 1st on the list.

Also, I'm sure you guys can imagine if the PO allowed the carpet to be this neglected — you can also imagine how much work I've had to do maintenance-wise to get this truck to roll over 400k and run well doing it.

"Mmmmm — labor of love these trucks are". Yoda said that right? He drove a 4Runner didn't he? If not he should have...

Where did the PO get it if you even know? That's a pretty good OEM color match for anyone wanting to go that route.
