calling all Attitude Black warriors!!

I have owned a few other cars and trucks either black or deep in color so I knew exactly what I was getting myself into choosing this color however I've noticed the clear coat on my limited is very soft and porous. Can anyone recommend the best paint cleaner,polisher and or scratch removal product? Thanks

I try to keep a nice layer of dirt, spatter and such to mask the bush kisses. I'm planning the LineX when that is no longer doing the job. Both are excellent detail products the real pros use.

Owning a black truck is like playing paintball. You know it's going to hurt, so you can play scared and be completely ineffective and have a horrible night, or you can run straight at the other guys the very first round and get lit the f*ck up and get it over with, and enjoy the rest of the night.

By which I mean, go key your truck right now and get it over with. You'll sleep better, and you'll save hundreds of dollars on makeup for your Precious.

Let me start off by saying, you have not chosen a "color"... You have chosen a hobby! It takes a lot of work to keep it looking good, but its well worth it!

Klasse All-In-One is a great product. It is a Synthetic Acrylic Sealant and Abrasive Free Polish that provides about 3-5 months of protection when properly applied and cared for.

Product:
Klasse Kit, klasse car kit, klasse car care kit

To paraphrase the above posts, you will need to wash your car with a quality car soap.

Clay bar the entire vehicle (if you need instructions on proper clay bar application, see this link: Auto detailing clay, detail clay bar, clay lubricant, Pinnacle Poly Clay, Wolfgang, auto detail clay, meguiar's detailing clay, auto clay bar )

Put your hand in a plastic sandwich bag and slide it over the paint. It should feel perfectly smooth. If it does not, clay bar the tough areas once more.

I recommend using IronX as well, but it is optional. It removes Iron deposits that cause rust. Very effective, especially if you live in a harsher climate or near a railroad. Info on that can be found here: Iron X Iron Remover, CQuartz IronX, Paint Cleaner, paint decontamination

After you have completed that, you can begin applying the Klasse All-In-One. Take a microfiber applicator pad and moisten it with quick detailer, apply NO LARGER THAN A DIME size of Klasse to the applicator pad. Believe me, you DO NOT want to apply too much. Its better to have to reapply a little than to take excess off. If you are looking to really extend the life of your work to well over 9 months (as long as 12 months, depending on your climate), you can apply an additional coat of Klasse High Gloss after the Klasse All-In-One dries for 12 hours.

Once this is applied, you will not need to wax the vehicle at all. Just an occasional wash or some Quick Detailer if you're going on a hot date. This stuff is great!

I hear ya! Definitely had a soft finish.

I just got my 2011 black Limited so I'll be giving it a good clay/polish/wax in the spring and hopefully it resists swirls a little better than the Bimmer :thumb:

thanks for the info, I've had a 2008 LTZ, 1999 E46 M3 black, and a 2007 Rubicon unlimited also in black and I don't remember it being so difficult to keep the scratches away so much as this LE!! My last few cars and trucks have been white. Thanks again I'll check those products out definitely.

Toyota's historically have softer clear coats. I would recommend the 2 Bucket Method to avoid scratching during hand washes. The Klasse will act as a sacrificial layer between the elements and your clear coat. It will also fill in minor spiderwebs and swirls by rounding over the sharp edges of the scratch, which reduces how much light is refracted by them. The swirls will mostly disappear or be significantly reduced with a good synthetic coating.

Also, make sure you wash with a mit that has a deep fingers or areas where grit can sit and not be rubbed against the paint. Sheepskin or microfiber mits with fingers are good. Do not use a regular microfiber sponge, as you will continue to grind the dirt you are trying to wash off into the paint. The dirt needs somewhere to go...

I've always been a big fan of Menzerna polishes and Optimum sealers. I always kept my black car spotless with them and the work easily lasted a year.

I really miss having a black car because of how good it looks but it's nice to be relaxed with the 4runner as it's silver but those products still do a great job.

I just picked up a 2015 attitude black LE yesterday just in time to get covered in snow from last night. This is some great information and come spring time when I detail the truck I plan to use this advice.
