Calling all k02 owners 265 vs 275 ?

I just upgraded from stock bridgestone duelers to 275 ko2s. No rubbing on stock TRD/Trail rims. Barely noticeable power hit. Barely noisier/rougher on the road. No word yet on MPG hit but I would guess maybe 0.5-1 mpg hit.

The looks and performance was worth it for me. It now looks how it should have rolled off the lot.

Exactly, this was the first thing I added to the new T4R.

Have you experience any rubbing with the 265s?

I did. I put KO2 265s on FN Fx Pro wheels and had some rubbing on the driver's side fender/bumper when in reverse and steering turned all the way to the right. Pushing the black fender liner plastic forward didn't fix my problem. I had to trim off a piece of the bumper/fender with a Dremel tool. Below is a picture taken from the front of the truck, driver's side, looking up at the bumper/fender. The red area marks the part I had to trim.

Thanks for the info! Can you notice this trimming when looking from the side ?

It would be difficult to notice something that is no longer there, trim it neatly and smoothly and all will be fine. I pushed the wheel well liner as far forward as possible and trimmed the fender to match.

I did have light rubbing on both front mud flaps and light rubbing on the bottom right corner of the drivers side fender liner.. I removed my front mud flaps and used a heat gun and pushed the spot in where I was rubbing on the fender liner. They only rubbed when full lock reverse or turning on a light incline. The reverse rub is easily avoided. Just dont fully crank the wheel and will stop. its very minimal rub. I just ordered bilstein 5100 shocks so this should also help.

NOTE: My wheels are 8" wide with -10 offset and 4.1" backspacing

I have a new 17 Off-Road Premium and tires/wheels are my first mod.

Just bought a set of the black TRD pro wheels last week so now I'm looking for tires. I've been reading and reading about all the different tires and am just overwhelmed with info.

I plan to stay stock lift for a long time as this is my first off road car and my daily driver so I want to learn about off roading first on beginner trails before venturing out to more extreme off roads.

Also, id like to not have to cut/trim any flaps as I don't have the necessary tools.

Can anyone recommend me good tires for socal region daily/trail driving that will fit my stock 17 TRD-ORP with the TRD Pro wheels that will give me better than stock capabilities and look decently aggressive?

If some people are experiencing rubbing with 265/70/17, is it out of the realm of possibility for me to get 275/70/17 in a more capable tire?

I've been thinking about the ko2s or the nitto grapplers as I believe nittos come on the stock trd pro.

Any advice on which tire would be better suited for my needs would be greatly appreciated!

The 265/70/17 C load without raised whitewall lettering are 44lbs each and that's 11lbs less per tire than the 275s.

Really want to purchase the KO2s in 265s. What is holding me back is wondering if I will regret the truck feeling more sluggish compared to the stock Duelers with added weight. Also considering TG g2s just because they are almost the same weight as stock. Love the look of the KO2s but don't want to regret it driving away and noticing the difference and being stuck with the tires. Any thoughts from current 265 owners? Am I making too much of a deal about it? Hopefully it's not a perceptible difference.

My guess for why you haven't received any replies to your post is that there is no single correct answer for everyone -- it comes down to a matter of personal choice, and the matter has been debated in many, many previous threads.

It seems like 5th Gens running TRD Pro wheels typically get rubbing if they go bigger than the stock tire size (265/70-17). This is because the TRDs stick out a little more than the stock rims and thus have a greater scrub radius. It's the same effect as adding wheel spacers.

There are numerous suitable All-Terrain tire choices in the stock tire size. BFG KO2s seem like the most popular one, and get the best consumer reviews on sites such as TireRack. So maybe stock-size KO2s might be the best choice for you? Seems like a little rubbing at extreme lock in reverse might be acceptable if the tires look and perform like you want them to.

Thank you for your suggestions and advice!

I ended up going with 275/70/17 K02s with the black TRD rims and I'm have no rub when driving the vehicle. However, in reverse in lock, there is small rubbing on the liner and a tad bit on the bumper. I decided to cut a bit off the bumper to help and now only the inside liner rubs, which I plan to adjust as well.

I'm already getting complements on the new tires. They look great with my superwhite 4Runner and TRD rims.

They do feel heavier when going and stopping like you said but nothing too drastic that it can be considered a con. I don't notice any additional noise nor loss in comfort while driving.

I'll add my review with about 25000 miles on my KO2s. I went with 275/70r17 on the stock SR5 wheels. Impressions after living with them for a while:
-Road noise is impressively quiet for a fairly aggressive AT tire.
-Wet traction is mediocre at best, it's my biggest complaint.
-They're heavy, not terribly noticeable most of the time, but they are definitely heavy.
-I can't average above 19.5mpg over a full tank of gas no matter how hard I try where I am in the southern Appalachian foothills.
-No rubbing with the exception of full lock reverse, and that's only sometimes.
-White letters out has become a hassle to keep looking clean.
-Tread wear has been even and long-lasting so far. I'll easily get 50,000 miles out of these.
-I love the way they look, and the attitude that they give an otherwise stock 5th gen.

Will I buy them again? If I do, I think I'll go down to the 265/70 size to save some weight and MPG. 99.9% of my driving is on the road, so it only makes sense. The weight is noticeable going over broken pavement, or quick downshifts during acceleration, and saving 5-10 lbs of unsprung weight per tire is a significant difference. I'm leaning toward trying out another brand in another 25000 miles when these are worn out just because of the poor wet pavement traction.

Just FYI....I have 275/70/17 KO's on 17x9 Mamba M-14's and they weigh 65 lbs each....the stock alloys with Groundtreks weigh 67 lbs each.
