Calling electrical gurus

This is a little bit different mod than what most may ask for, but is required for what I do. I would like to install a switch to disconnect the brake lights. I hunt hogs at night with night vision from my t4r. This is legal in texas on private property. The light from the brake lights blinds the night vision, spooks the hogs sometimes, and makes things difficult.

I already did the DRL mod and thank you to those who took the time to post it. It works perfect. I'm looking for something similar to this, but for the brake lights. I know I can just unplug the wire by the pedal, but that makes the vsc trac, vsc off, abs lights come on and the shift lock engages. I tried pulling the 10A fuse under the hood, but it did the same thing. Any insight?

Basically I want to use the brakes without the lights coming on, the shift lock not engaging, and the dash to not turn into a Christmas tree.

The brake lights are controlled by the "stop light wire" which puts 12v directly to the lights from the brake pedal. All you have to do is find the stop light wire on the little electrical box on the brake pedal and interrupt that circuit with a switch.

Or you can have someone step on the brakes while You test the wires at the light for 12 volts. Whichever wire has 12 volts ONLY when the brake pedel is depressed is the one making your lights come on while braking. It might be a little impractical, but you could put a simple on/off toggle onto this wire, on both sides.

It WILL work, but might be impractical

Duffdog,

I'll give it a shot. I would prefer to interrupt the circuit there and install a single switch on the dash. Wish I had a wiring diagram.
