Following up on the post with my crankshaft troubles....
I had to pull the tbelt to get at the woodruff. What I didn't do was set the timing to TDC before removing the belt and I didn't make any matchmarks. Rookie mistakes, I know..... :redbrick:
I have a couple questions/concerns.
After pulling the belt, the right cam gear "jumped" forward about 90 degrees. I tried to set both gears and the CS to TDC before reinstalling the belt, but it was nearly impossible to keep the left cam (drivers side) at TDC without it "jumping" forward on it's own.
I noticed that when I manually crank the CS clockwise (after installing the belt), the marks on the belt no longer match up with the TDC marks after one revolution. Does that sound right?
After putting everything back together enough to try and start the motor and held my breath. It started, ran EXTREMELY rough and idle steadily increased. I let it go like that for about 4-5 seconds before shutting it off. Something clearly isn't right and I think the timing might be off. Is there a chance that the valves sustained damage?
My question is this. 5vzfe is non-interference. So, if I tear it down and set the cs to TDC and the cam gears to TDC, ensuring that cylinder 1 is truly at TDC. Then, in practice, when I reinstall the belt, everything should run correctly, right?
