Hello All,
I'm new to the forums, and am hoping that somebody here can give my wife and I some advice on a '93 4Runner that we recently purchased from a private party, and have had several problems with so far.
The most pressing issue, which our mechanic cannot figure out, is a problem with the cam plug on the passenger-side head. Specifically, our mechanic determined that oil was leaking from the cam plug, and went ahead and replaced it. No more than 20mi. later, the cam plug has been bent outwards from the head, and is leaking oil again.
Our mechanic cannot for the life of him figure out how the cam is moving within the head such that it's contacting the cam plug and bending it outwards.
If anyone has any experience with this issue or ideas as to the cause, I would be very grateful for the help.
As it stands, my wife and I have invested $1,800 on top of what we paid for the 4Runner, and it isn't even driveable--ouch!
