Camburg uniball uca issue

Just installed a set of brand new camburg uniball arms on my 4runner and they are noisy when turning the steering wheel at low speeds. Yes, I know uniballs are going to be noisy but I also read a lot of people having luck with dry Teflon lube. I've been using tri flow Teflon lube and getting no results. They'll quiet down for a minute or two and then groan just like before.

Is the groaning a sign of something wrong with the uniballs? Will they wear out with no lube? I don't know why other people's have gotten quiet with Teflon lube but mine will not. I think I have read every thread on the Internet about uniballs and everyone either had worn out uniballs or the tri flow cured the noise.

To tell you the truth, mine exhibited the same thing the first time and i'm also using the tri-flow. Have you the chance to flex out the fronts to fully coat the uni-balls with the dry lube. You also know that the tolerances are really tight so give it some time to kinda settle down abit and the noise will go away.

Really try to work that lube into the uniball by flexing out the front on something, or rock the front end back and forth so the UCA travels up and down. I've heard others say they are especially loud when they are brand new.

Thanks for the replies, I had heard they take a little time to wear in and will quiet down some, but that was on a Chevy forum. Good to hear it over here too. I haven't tried flexing it to coat the whole uniball. Ill try that today and see what happens over the next week or so.

The Uni-ball design of the Camburg really turns me off. I don't think they are any stronger than an OE style Ball-Joint, and they certainly create more issues than the supposedly solve. I go on the beach with my rig, which means saltwater exposure. Those non-grease bushings would be toast after a few weekends of beach driving I can imagine.

That's bad to hear, I'll let you know what happens.

Shadow- What is it about the camburg arms you don't like? The bushings that connect it to the frame have zerks. Afaik most of the uniball arms are basically the same, exposed uniball. I wish they made balljoint camburg arms like they do for 4th gens, I really only bought them to correct the alignment. I know about the light racing arms but didnt like the adjustable balljoint, seemed like no shop knew what to do and I heard they sometimes move around after a while.

I almost did but isn't it kind of know that they're noisy and my fault that I bought noisy parts? But at the same time, others have no noise.

You probably aren't the first person to call, but they might have a solution.

The tri flow I'm using came from wheelers Offroad. It's listed right below the camburg uca's. I'm not sure if its the same.

Call camburg and ask. That's what the tech is there for. After you ask, report back here with the results. That way everyone can know.
