I've been trying to decide between two sizes of a high performance cooler for camping. I'm leaving brands/performance out as I am focused on exterior size vs. interior and most importantly how it fits in the rear of a 2015 TE.
One is 35 quart interior with a footprint of 16x24"
The other is 54 quart with footprint of 16x28". (It has somewhat thinner wall thickness)
It seems a no brainer to get the larger size since it is only 4" longer for 50% more capacity, but...
When I set them both in the cargo area of the 4R that 4" seems like a lot.
I've previously camped three people 1-4 nights with a low performance 30 quart, but it is tight and the last few nights of camping are non perishables and warmer drinks. (three people)
I've purchased the 54 quart, but damn it takes up a lot of cargo space. I can still swap back up until tomorrow night. Most of my trips are 1-2 nights where the smaller one will work, but then of course I'll have less other stuff too so the larger size won't matter.
