Camping in Joshua Tree with ARB Awning

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd share a few pictures of my ARB 2500 Awning installed on my factory rack. It works great and I love the adjustability, perfect for camping!

That last shot was at 4AM and the Milky Way was beautiful!

Never camped there before (not really a camper at all), but I love Joshua Tree. It has to be among my favorite places I've ever been, love the scenery out there and how tranquil even the main road can be on what should be a very busy tourist day.

Actually rock solid. I am going to be modifying the setup a bit to be a little more streamlined and I plan on making a tutorial to help others.

The mounting to the factory rail may not look sturdy but it definitely is. Driving home from Joshua Tree there was very high winds, even warnings for high end vehicles. I could feel the car pull left strongly and I looked in my mirror to make sure the awning was ok and it wasn't moving at all absolutely solid.

I only used 3 mount points, 2 being the minimum recommended, but I might even do 5 for piece of mind even though it might be overkill. 3 points felt plenty fine to be honest.

Thank you JEL. I personally like greenery but Joshua Tree was very nice indeed, it felt very secluded yet fun and safe. Definitely a must if you live in SoCal.
 
The ARB awning seems so expensive though. Is it worth it for the price? There are a bunch of other options a third of the price.

That sucker is heavy, it's right around 50lbs.

yes definitely. I'm going to tidy up the mounting as well as of right now it's a little ugly. I can even make a short video walking you around the awning.

Personally I really like it, I do wish it extended out a little further. It's roughly 8.2ft by 8.2ft. It's sturdy and easy to deploy. I did a little research prior to buying it but found this to be the nicest looking solution that wouldn't break the bank. I feel like i found the opposite, I found more expensive solutions out there.

You're right. I was looking on amazon and it was insanely expensive but on other sites it looks to be about 200 shipped which doesn't look bad for what it is. Looks really high quality too

Yeah and if you think about it, how much profit are these companies making if they are able to ship a 50lbs 8ft x 8ft item for free? Very cool either way, I'm not complaining.

Yes it actually is pretty hight quality. I would love to somehow come up with a faster way to mount and unmount the awing from the roof rack.

Also Johnny if you're local You're most than welcome to see it in person, I'm in Garden Grove and would love to come out to the next meet or two.

Santa Ana actually and I'm always in Garden Grove to eat and whatnot. You might even see me around in the lifted galactic gray on ko2's.
 
I apologize the setup is a bit "ghetto" but it was a quick solution so I could use it the next day. Like I said before I will tidy it up and make it look more presentable. In the mean time here is what it looks like:
