Camshaft bolt removal

Hey, I need help.
How do I remove the bolt holding pulley onto camshaft? Easiest way possible. Having to replace head and stuck at camsh!aft bolt.

Impact works well, that way you don't have to use the special tool to steady the camshaft.

That bolt is on by factory w/ red loctite. I do advise a really good impact. If an impact is not available using a breaker bar and chain, or fab up your own SST as in the pictures I have attached. Good Luck.

Here is an image I stole some time ago from another member that I thought was a good way to get the camshaft bolt out:

But seeing that you are pulling the heads, take off the valve covers, and there is a place on the cam that accepts a wrench (can't remember the size) so they won't turn as you break/loosen the cam gear pulley bolt.

Air, or a large cordless impact works well.

Ok, have tried everything mentioned to no avail. Have wrench on camshat itself so locked in but bolt holding pulley on won't budge. Impact is useless, broken 2 sockets and breaker bar. Can't budge...any more suggestions...please

Flag down the nearest Snap On truck and buy a better socket.

Get an impact with more ass to it. Or.....

While one person is holding the cam, put a breaker bar with the new SO socket on it, put a 4ft cheater piper over said breaker bar, and try to loosen.

Was snap on socket and using 3' pipe as breaker bar, won't budge.....other suggestions.

If heat, penetrating lubricant, and brute force aren't working - you're not using enough*.

*or you're turning the wrong way.

Just to triple check, to loosen bolt turn it counter clockerwise. Can I apply heat to bolt and not worry about pulley warping?

Heat wont hurt anything especially since you're replacing the camshaft seal (the closest rubber component) No need to get it super hot. Just enough to "burn the Loctite off and expand the pulley.
