Can Someone Diagnose the Ticking?

Hello everyone,

My problem occurs in the rear end. It is located above where your spare tire is located. Can you tell me what this piece of equipment is? It continually ticks while the truck is running.

It is the circular object:

Is there a way to replace it? Would it be relatively expensive? It is someone loud and has just started doing it about a month ago. Any suggestions would be great. I can try to post a video tomorrow.

I'm sure they can be replaced but I hear they are expensive. Maybe you can just live with the ticking...

What happened to EatonKyleH's post about it being the evap valve? If that's the part making the noise maybe it wouldn't be so expensive to replace??

It's an evap valve on the charcoal canister. Not sure if that one can be replaced without changing the whole canister, but a lot of people recommending doing them as a pair. It's your evap system so if you're not 100% confident and sure what you're doing, DO NOT TOUCH IT!

Are you getting any check engine lights?

I've been secretly working on this and I'll admit it is something I don't see very often so I've been doing a little refresh on it. It is the vacuum switching valve for charcoal canister purging. I beeeellliiiieevvvee it is only sold with the charcoal canister and is not available separately and is honestly probably clicking because the canister is full/saturated anyway. However this kinda thing varied a bit from year to year and by VIN. I will need your VIN number and I can send you an exploded parts diagram and part numbers to help. Your evap system differs from mine and its not something I can get precise info with on the generic side of techstream.

Hey Brian,
So here is the exploded view with part numbers of your EVAP system by VIN. That valve is not available separately from the charcoal canister from anything I could find.

PM me your email address and I'll send you it as a pdf so you can zoom and see it better. Figured I'd slap it up here for others to see if they are needing similar info.
