Just wondering if this is all I need to play my Ipod thru the stereo and if it gives me the ability to control the Ipod functions thru the stereo and steering wheel audio controls.
Can someone explain what "USB port with Ipod Connectivity" means?

You are correct, there is a USB port in the glovebox, and you just plug your ipod in there and the stereo will take care of the rest.

It's not an ipod specific interface but, if you use an ipod, it probably only supports certain ones. I have aftermarket interfaces in my truck and in my daughter's car and I have a radio on my golf cart that has a usb port on it and we have 5 or 6 ipods around the house. Some will work with certain interfaces and some won't. I even have a Bose ipod dock that is made specifically for ipod and some of our ipods won't work on that. Some will play but not charge, some won't do anything. Go figure.
I'm definitely going to get that option on my 4runner when I buy one. But will probably just throw all the music on a stick and use that.

if you have an iPhone or the like, you can sync up bluetooth to your truck, and when you get in the car, the iPHone will stream music to the car. It's pretty sweet. ANd yes, you can change songs and volume up and down on the steering wheel. Just click the stereo to aux.
you can also plug in a external hard drive in the glove box via the usb plug.

AUX is "sorta right" On vehicles with NAV, its the "BT" tab within the AUDIO interface. Just clarifying in case someone has the NAV because AUX to NAV means different. (it means the little headphone port on my nav)

I have a very old first generation iPod Classic...It's a brick. But, it works just fine.

ipod classic is a 6th gen ipod. Mine is an ipod mini from 2005. Guess it's time for my to retire it.

I either connect my 1st gen ipod touch, plug my Mytouch 4G or stream through Bluetooth. Either way, it gets the job done.

My son has a ipod touch that we tried in my 2010 4runner last night. Worked well but when we pulled it out of the 4runner the ipod had been locked out for 22,000,000 minutes. :sobbing: Has any one else had this issue? I could not get the ipod reset either so it looks like it is off to apple for repair!?!

It was mentioned in this thread that you can stream music via the bluetooth link in the truck, which is true, though the truck makes you seperately register your phone as either a phone or a music player. Does anyone know any shortcuts to use the bluetooth as both without entering setup and pairing the device each time you switch between functions? (switching is not available while driving)

i haven't even figured out how to pair my phone to the car(for making calls) yet. Although, i haven't really searched yet. I need to do it soon. I have NOT opened the manual for those that say RTFM lol

yes, the USB provides direct hookup to your iPod, but, no, i wouldn't call it "full control" per se... the thing is crazy slow. forget about scrolling through to select an artist or album...
it's a shame because it's so close to a good setup. has anyone found that the menu navigation works better with a flash/SSD-based iPod like the iPod Touch? my Classic is dirt slow; basically just leave it on shuffle. :shrug:

I never bother to hook iPod/iPhone every time I get into the car. I use a USB memory stick and plug it permanently in the car with all my music collections.
I don't think it is a good idea even occassionally use iPod/iPhone either through control on stereo/wheel or on iPod/iPhone. Because this will take your attention off the road too much and the menu/fuctions are not that simple especially you are not use it everyday.

so your position is that an un-navigable iPod interface is a "driver safety feature"? hang on a minute, are you the Toyota engineer who decided to lock out the Nav unit when the vehicle's in motion?! :lol:

I don't have this problem at all. I've paired it up as both, and now everytime I get in the truck, the "BT" icon comes up on my stereo, and I can make calls with no problem. Never had to mess with it again.
I've made calls with the steering wheel controls while in the middle of listening to streaming music from my phone, and when I ended the call, it went right back to the music.
Maybe I misunderstood the question.
