Can someone explain what "USB port with Ipod Connectivity" means?

It was mentioned in this thread that you can stream music via the bluetooth link in the truck, which is true, though the truck makes you seperately register your phone as either a phone or a music player. Does anyone know any shortcuts to use the bluetooth as both without entering setup and pairing the device each time you switch between functions? (switching is not available while driving)

My Verizon iPhone 4 is registered as both, but I don't remember how I did it. I do remember that I had to play around with it installing and uninstalling each device until both would coexist. I think I had to uninstall the phone, install the media player and reinstall the phone, then I had both.

The USB will charge an iphone, although there is a second USB located in the console for that purpose. When the ipod is connected to the glove box USB port the ipod controls are not active.

To be absolutely honest when I first got my TE I was tickled to death by the Nav and stereo. BT, USB for my ipod, and a cool screen...aweseome.

However, 6 months in I am finding that there are major limitations.

The Nav screen for the ipod flatout sucks. It is a royal pain to navigate if you have many different artists on there, and as far as finding a song, you can grow old waiting to navigate to any song that begins with something other than the letter "A". I also discovered (someone correct me if I am wrong), that you can't rewind a song or audiobook if you want to hear a certain section again.

The Nav has its own limitations and is not as great as I first thought either.

If I had to do it over again I would still get the TE, but without factory nav and would have an aftermarket system installed.

Anyone know if there is any noticeable differences with the aux vs the usb? I've been using the aux and keep forgetting to bring out the usb cord every time I leave the house.

I just got my SR5 about 2 weeks ago and love it. I bought a new ipod nano and it works pretty good. It is a bit slow and in my opinion works best on shuffle. I make a playlist and let it shuffle and that works really well. If the ipod is hooked up to USB, it will charge. The USB works well too but unfortunately for me a lot of my music is from iTunes so the best way for me to play the MP4s is through an ipod. I've been really happy with it.

It walks through exactly how to pair as music and audio player simulataneously and should pretty much work for any smartphone. You can have multiple phones paired, too. You will want to unpair your phone before going through the process, though. Both my wife and I have iphone 4s paired to our T4R. The switching process is sort of tedious, but can be done by the instructions below.

Pair your iPhone as a phone and it should automatically play your music as well. I drive for a living and I stream Pandora through Blue Tooth and I love it. You should be able to control most functions through the steering wheel but using the iPhone to control is handy too. Pretty awesome to also be able to plug it into the 120V socket as well and always have a charge.

You can do this even faster if rather than using the voicecommands, you use the seek knob on the right side to find each item, then press the button in. you only need to speak "confirm" at the end.

Does that work while you are moving, though? I usually make the switch as I'm moving down the road.

Actually, it doesn't matter. You can use the headunit or the ipod app on your iPhone. (It might of interest to note that I'm on ios 4.3.1, jailbroken)

question..i have used my ipod bt and sometimes it connects bt with the truck and other times it says not found has anyone else had this problem...i now use the cord usb slot to play it now..

So what you are saying is you can pair and run two phones at once? When my wife and I get into my runner it will say Bluetooth already connected (my phone) Do you want to disconnect this one and re-connect a new device???

As for the I-pod, I connect it to the USB port in the glove box and just run it on shuffle (good thing is it charges your ipod) I also use a flash drive and download a bunch of songs on that too, the only PITA on that score is I have to covert AAA into MP3 as the runner won't recognize AAA on the flash drive, yet it will play AAA through my Ipod. Crazy!!!!
