Can you swap a grill for an 06+ into an 03-05?

I've seen some great grills for an 06-07 but was wondering with the redesign if the new grills are incompatable with the older 4runners.

Don't take this on me, but I THINK the design of the grille on the 06-07 is slightly a different size than the 03-05. Maybe if you change the hood then you can get the new grille. :biggrin2:

sorry, but youre SOL. the whole front end got the face lift, and nothing is interchangeable to my knowledge.

Nope.

The headlight garnishes (the pieces under the headlights are different) would also need to be replaced to accommodate the new grill. The front bumper would also need replacing since the new grill also protrudes much lower. However, the hood itself is still the same. My '05 and '07 share the same hood hardware and grill mounts but you will definitely have clearance issues between the two. You can actually mount the newer grill but your hood won't close all the way, hence the newer bumper.

oh well thanks for the info. I really like this aftermarket grill I saw on ebay cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOYOTA-4RUNNER-2-PC-MESH-GRILLE-GRILL-STAINLESS-06-07_W0QQitemZ130095095825QQcategoryZ33645QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem but i dont see an 03-05 version! I'm not a fan of the little inserts either.

While I'm on the idea of a new grill, does anyone know of a good source to get a mesh or other sort of grill replacement for 03-05 4runners?

I have done the 06 headlight conversion on a 05. I also have my an 06 front grill. I test fitted it to my hood and it fits. There is about a 1.5 in of thegrill that interfers. It would take alot of work to cut the lower portion of the grill to fit a 03-05. You also have to rework the latch bracket that is right behind the lower portion. It is posible and i was thinking of attempting it.

I plan on running a custom made bumper and a 06 grill and headlights. I am still putting together some parts. I will have pics as soon as i get more parts.

I just bought mine from grille-tech.com its for an 03-05!! I will post some pics when I get it installed!!
