Can't decide whether I should plasti-dip my wheels...

Man that looks awesome. I ended taking all of the wheels off because I had to rotate my tires anyways. I've almost finished plastidipping one wheel (I started with the spare). It's taken me about 1 can per wheel. But I'm doing the outside and inside too and then I bought two cans of the dark bronze for all 5 wheels. I hope that'll be enough but I can always get more.

It's cheap, doesn't take much time, and is completely reversible. Give it a try and see how you like it. I'm happy with mine and may end up doing something a little more permanent down the road.

I say do it. I've had my wheels plasti-dipped since June and it's been exactly 6 months and 1 day since i did it. They have held up really great and they have been through ALOT (long road trip to Utah from Texas, about 20,000 miles of driving, some desert off-roading, driving on dirt/gravel roads constantly, high powered power washing directly to the rims, and gas station drive through car washes with bristles). The only thing i really noticed is the black color doesn't look as fresh as the first couple of months i had it, but thats because i've only washed it with water and we had some REALLY hot summer heat here (topping 110 degrees!) I'm thinking of making an update thread or something.

No problem! i did mine 7 months ago and i love the look. no scrapes or scratches. have taken it offroad a couple times too. 20 bills for a new look is way better than 2 grand.

I think you should plastidip them and then use RustOleum Hardened Dark Bronze. Just saying.

Black looks pretty sick, but this bronze idea over the plastidip would look filthy (filthy=NICE, fyi) :biggrin2: .

Well that looks pretty awesome. Alright well now that we can paint plasti-dip, here is a third option:

I like this! Once I get my FJ wheels installed (they're just sitting in the garage) that is what I'll be doing in a similar color. Don't forget to clear coat over it for additional protection.

I Plasti dipped mine this past weekend, litterally the hardest part is taping around your rim. Its a fun easy project that makes a hell of a difference. You would love it man. DO IT!!

Easiest way to mask off rims is to get a deck or cards and wedge them between the rim and tire overlapping each other all the way around. Once your done spraying them make sure and use a razor and cut the paint from the rim to the card so you don't peel it off when you pull the cards out. Hope this helps.
