Can't find a TRD Off Road Premium

Some sites don't post Trail editions as trails. Broaden the search and just look at 4runners in general. The list is long and it sucks but you can find some sweet deals. Especially dealerships that don't know exactly what they have. I found a 16' Trail with KDSS in NC at a Chevy dealer with only 3k miles for 32k. They had it listed as an SR5. Worth the search and the 8hr drive!

Last year I got my 2016 TEP in two weeks for 2k under sticker here in CT. Got all the options I wanted and the dealer was a pleasure to work with. I feel bad for you Cali guys and gals, the dealerships out there really make these things out to be unicorns.

I had to search pretty much the whole state in California, but Freeman Toyota in Santa Rosa was willing to deal... had to order it from Japan, but got a very nice (well below MSRP) price for it. (ORP, no sunroof..) Everyone else I talked to, well, not worth the oxygen.
How long are you on the waitlist for? I waited a few months but needed to buy sooner so went to Colorado.
FYI: Arizona has the best prices but apparently you risk possibly paying extra AZ state tax of 2-3% on top of CA tax if AZ decides not to pass on the tax back to California. They said it is up to whoever prices your paperwork at the DMV.

San Diego had one. Not sure if they still do. I didn't end up buying it because their salesperson stopped talking to me. I think the Hollywood one has a Off road. Not sure if a Premium though. I recall seeing one there when I picked up my Pro.
I think it was about 4 weeks... Just picked it up about 9 days ago! I called around to Nevada, and no joy there. When I was looking for a used runner, I was mostly seeing what I wanted in Colorado, so I was *almost* set on getting one from there.
Wasn't so much of a waitlist as a "order from the factory" so I was pretty pleased with the time window. Fortunately I still had my tacoma, so I wasn't in too much of a hurry.

CarMax seems to get a new one in every week where I'm at, a lot of times they offer free transfers - sometimes they'll get brand new 4R's in as well.

interesting... I was just about to call you out on this (I have a Trail Premium -> TRD OffRoad Premium circa 2015). I didn't want the leather seats. I got this because it was the only way to get a sunroof, but I have since learned to love my leather seats too. So, I was going to call BS on you... then I looked at the Toyota option list for the ORP. Sunroof: Optional.
Seems like the sunroof went from mandatory in 2015 to optional in the 2017+ (in the USA)...
I guess Toyota USA does listen to complaints.
Find an auto broker and let them search. I called my auto broker and he was able to contact his Toyota distributer and found a TEP that was arriving in port (I assume in Cali) the has not been allocated. I had a choice between silver and dark grey. I chose the silver. I had to wait 4 weeks for it to get out of port and to the broker, but it was worth it. I even got a couple grand off sicker.

I was in the same boat. Just picked my TRD Offroad Premium on Friday. I was asking around at a number of dealerships in the area. Not sure if you'd be willing to fly up to the Seattle area, but Toyota of Bellevue and Toyota of Burien have about 6-7 models between them that should arrive in a week or so. None of their models have the moonroof, but they do have options with and without the KDSS.
If this is up your alley, give Ian a call from Michael's Toyota in Bellevue. He should hook you up and they're pricing these things below MSRP.

Molle Toyota in Kansas City and Crown Toyota in Lawrence, KS have some. I went to Toyota of Fayetteville in Arkansas to get my non kdss w/moonroof off road premium. They come with a lot of additional add ons that are port installed, but I was able to get it for th same price as one without anything added on. They took $4,430 off the msrp FYI.

Weird that you can't find one. Cars dot com shows 453 in CONUS. I sorted down to 250 mile radius of the CA Bay Area and it's showing 49 listings. Maybe switch up your search parameters?
