Yesterday I spent most of my day installing the new head unit. But the problem is its sitting a tad to low so I cant get the trim panel/console to fit back on right. I cant figure out how to raise it up, I have searched on here, google and contacted crutchfield they told me everything looks right.

The parking brake wire is also giving me hell, I cant get to a good enough spot to attach the clip. Theres only a tiny length of wire coming out of the kick panel by the door.

If theres someone in Colorado Springs willing to come over and help me I will get you a six pack of your choice :)

I had a similar problem with the trim not fitting. What I ended up doing was loosening the headunit mounts slightly so I had some wiggle room. Then I was able to put the main trim back on and using a long extension, reach the headunit mounts and tighten them back up.

When i did mine on 07 sport with a double din unit i had the same issue. it sat too far out and low for the surround to fit and clip in. I had to slot the headunit mount holes so it sat in the correct spot. Not sure if the earlier model 4th gens had slightly different measurements but there was no way it would work any other way.

as far as the parking brake connection just run it to ground. that connection is so you cant play videos while driving but if you ground it it makes install much easier and video will play while the brake isnt on. not safe to watch movies while driving but much easier to install.

Can I use the ground on the wire harness on the back of the head unit? If not where can I ground it?

you can tie into that ground or any metal surface in the dash is good too just be sure all connections are tight and clean ive seen so many radio installs where people use wire nuts or twist and tape and although it works at first there is nothing more annoying than driving down the road and having a speaker or the whole headunit cut out because of a loose connection. best way is solder and shrink tube(weather tite and permanent)

I got everything back together and out of the garage. Playing around with it when the volume is really low you can hear feedback and stupid me didnt plug in the mic for the phone, they told me I needed a special adapter but I just blue toothed it and it put my contacts list and everything on the hu.
Thank you for the help!! :D
