Can't remove "Options" -- New T4R

So Im in the midst of negotiating (or trying to at least) a replacement for my new TE. I inquired about the removal of ToyoGuard & Floor Mats. I was told the following...

First you inquired about Toyoguard and floor mats. These are not things that can be removed. They are on the Maroney label of the vehicle and per federal law they cannot be removed. I would recommend the Toyoguard as it will offer you two additional tire rotations and an additional oil change. As for the roadside assistance I have found it helpful as I have AAA and have waited over an hour before. So I recommend calling your insurance and Toyota and see who gets there first should you need it. The Toyoguard will also come with VIN Etched glass to help prevent theft and a personal assistant that you can use as a concierge type of service. As for the floor mats, I would sell them online if you did not want to use them.

I believe he meant Monroney sticker but outside of the grammatical error, should I walk if they're not willing to offer a credit on the price($1098 in "options") given Toyota care(2yr/25k) covers the same thing this "unnecessary" ToyoGuard does?

Roadside Assistance in a Toyota[sure, things happen] ? I can change a flat, AND ITS A TOYOTA, so quite the invalid debating point to me but they have the truck and I want it.

I didn't want the floor mats either. Although the dealer couldn't take them off, they did drop the final price a little more and I got to keep them. I already had new Huskyliners when I went to pick it up anyway. I keep forgetting to post the OEM mats on here and CL.

When I was in the market for an FJ I was told the same thing. Stupid FJ had two sets of floor mats -_- at 200 and change each

Just recently purchased a 15 TE and found the same thing. If it's on the sticker it has to be delivered with it. I didn't want the rubber mats as I was ordering Weather Tech but I had to accept the vehicle as stickered. They did negotiate the price down on the mats to what I think was their cost.

If its on the sticker you cannot get it removed. You don't have to pay for it though. Hey, just get a deal you are comfortable with and call it a day. I have a quote for this:

The only way you will get the exact vehicle you want is waiting for a locate or build. I wanted absolutely no extras on my TP and of course the locate had mats... no biggie, I got the vehicle at a price I was willing to spend. I then dumped the mats on Ebay for a few bucks ($75ish I believe) and added Weathertechs.

Cars already on the lot come to the dealer at a cost... whether we like it or not... kind of like this clip.

One thing you know for sure: your salesperson is a jerk who will say anything.

Don't get hung up in the details by focusing your energy on the mats or some such thing. Just think about the overall price - you don't care how they get it down, as long as they get it down to something you are willing to pay.

Do you need the rig today? Are there other dealers? Have you looked at http://www.truecar.com and similar places?

Just bought a TEP yesterday PM me

I just bought a TEP yesterday from a dealer in Dallas. Worked out a deal where they drove it down to me in SA. I got a killer deal. I had 5 other dealers in TX say that they flat up couldn't match the deal that this dealer was giving me. If you are interested PM me and I'll put you in contact with the dealer.

Go to a big high volume dealer, they work on quantity of vehicles sold not amount they make per car. Also truecar or if you have usaa they have the same program, very helpful and if they can't honor the price then walk away.

So I found one in Colorado (mind you I've been wanting to take a road trip there all year, and it hasn't worked with my schedule, having a 1yr old...)

send my DL, Insurance, Send in a credit app, which I now see on my report only to find out that its been sold from under me last night, and now the next nearest is in Boise. :violin:

I literally have this weekend as my only free weekend before a 5 day trip to Michigan, then the end of the year rush at my job so they may have effectively "screwed me" out of the opportunity to get the 0% interest. And needless to say I'm LIVID that my credit was run on a vehicle they didn't have secured for me (I offered a deposit).


Also(now scrambling) I understand private dealerships don't offer 0% despite their advertisement on autotrader etc.

Might I have any recourse aside from the scathing review I intend to leave about this experience.

Is this MI trip with family or a solo trip? Last I checked, there are quite a few Trails around here... not like SR5's or LE's but they can be found. Mine was a dealer trade from WI. There seem to always be a decent number in the Chicago and Milwaukee area. If it's a solo trip (I'm assuming not), I would grab a flight somewhere over here then drive your new 4Runner the rest of the way to MI. I'm assuming you've already ruled this option out... but I thought I'd put it out there.

I hear ya J, I'm very protective too, but I'd suggest you get on with finding a vehicle. There really isn't much you can do to them - you essentially gave them permission with this:

I'd forget about them, if they call you tell them to forget your number. Hopefully you got a fair deal from the insurance company.

I'm sure you have seen these, but if not there are plenty to choose from all over the country. These are just dealers who work with cars.com: New Toyota 4Runner - in 37128 Area - on Cars.com

The large market volume dealers are usually your best bet for a quick and easy deal. When I was looking the Trail models were often incorrectly listed as limited models. Good luck!
