Can't upload pics

I've been trying for a couple of weeks to upload pictures, but it still will not work.
The upload process here is obviously very straight forward. I'm also a member of another forum that uses basically the same format as here, and I can upload pictures their fine.
I'm using Windows 7, are there any settings I should check that could possibly be preventing pic uploads to this site?

when you click on post reply (As in post in the thread), you will see additional options towards the bottom, you will then click on the manage attachments tab, that will allow you to post pictures from your C drive or wherever your pictures are stored from.
This is the easiest way to post on this forum.. Enjoy

then upload them to a free hosting site like ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting or Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket (You are going to have to sign up for an account of course) once that's taken place, you can grab the link for each picture that says forum post and post them here...

On imageshack, you have to click the "Embed this image" for it to take you to where it will let you pull the url from the Forum tab..

imageshack is much better than flicker or photobucket.

upload, set to 17", copy the text in the "forum" field. paste. delete the last line (optional)

Thanks, but I'de rather find out why I can't upload them directly from my hard drive as I should be able to.
I don't want the hassle of another site either.

no offense but it isn't a hassle unless you are Forest Gump. it is really simple and has multiple benefits but do as you please.

The advantages of imageshack:
* the picture is forever available as an anonymous link
* You can click the image and be taken right to the source
* You can re-use the link on any other forum thread, infinity times without upload

yeah X2 on the other web pages. i use Photobuket, i know you said you dont like those, but with these you can upload more than one photo onto one post, adjust the size and do it all in one pop. Its very easy to use and you dont even use up space on your hard drive!

I will use one of those sites if I must, but I'm more frustrated at not knowing why I can't upload them directly from my hard drive.
I would much rather find out what's wrong on this site, or my computer.

So are your pictures within the max file size? You are clicking the "upload" button after you Choose File and click Open right? Without being specific as to what you are doing we can't help you.

Yes I am uploading it that way.
The pictures are 2.5 megabytes.
Are they too big?

I use MS Office Picture Manager. Very simple...open with Picture Mgr, select COMPRESS PICTURES from the Picture drop down, select compress for a web page and you are done. Your 2MB pic is now <100KB. The forum will now allow it to be uploaded after you save it to your system.

I just tried to upload a 2.6 MB picture and it failed. You need smaller file sizes. Not sure about Windows 7, but XP has Paint (Start > Programs > Accessories) and you can resize the files with that. If the pictures end up too small you'll probably have to try one of the websites previously mentioned.

buy photoshop cs3 suite for $1.5k then resize,crop and compress to get your photo within spec for the website..... (geez that takes forever!)

or you can just upload to one of the 5 sites people suggested for you here, seriously, listen to these people, upload once use on all of your forums mail facebook and whatever else you need them for, takes almost any size of photo and is stored for ever.......why wouldn't you do this? the only hassle is getting over yourself and learning something new real quick, as it is actually easier and better for everyone to just use a 3rd party site like photobucket or imageshack....just find the site that is easiest for you to use, as they are all basically the same it's just a matter of finding one that's easy for you to navigate.....:bluejump:

takes literally 10 seconds to do w/Picture Manager. No resizing, cropping etc...Didn't cost me a dime. Sure you can get fancy w/it just like anything else but all I use it for is to compress the file size.

yeah, but seriously, just take the photo and upload online, you're just making more work for yourself by compressing and fooling around with it in the first place....basically your adding an extra step in the process becuase it's not the way your used to....

way 1:
take pic, upload to photobucket, paste to thread

way 2:
take pic,compress or resize, upload to website,paste to thread

also way 2 is limited in the sense that he can now really only use that pic for that given website, sure link location, but it really isn't half as versatile as the features offered on a a site like photobucket or imageshack or any of the others, not to mention the whole thing of compressing the files is bad in the first place for the image if you care about quality .......

but really do what ever makes you happy, even if it is pointless....

yeah i mean if your compressing the original picture on your computer program than its permanent, unless you save as and now you have two of the same picture on your computer taking up memory yada yada,

On a 3rd party site you still have the original full size picture on your hard drive and you have whatever on your account which is using up someone else's hard drive

its a win win in my mind haha

every time you upload a file to the site there are less compute resources for the website. => it actually helps the website when you use outside resources for file management.
