Canvasback Cargo Liner

I searched quite some time to find a suitable cargo liner that would prevent dog hair (I travel with 3 dogs) from getting imbedded in my 4Runner's impractical carpeting in the cargo area.

I finally ordered a custom fit Canvasback Cargo Liner:
Toyota:4Runner<br>2010 With Sliding Cargo Tray

I've just installed the liner and I must say I'm very impressed with both quality and fit .. all D-rings and storage compartments are still accessible and all carpeting is covered with the acrylic canvas waterproof material. Near as I can tell, the liner material is the same as what's being used for boat awnings and bimini tops, probably Sunbrella. The liner is available for 5th gen 4Runners both with and without the sliding cargo tray. Highly recommended!:thumb3:

I also found Kirkland brand quilted pet throws at the local Costco .. they're almost a perfect custom fit for the 4Runner (54" wide x 64" long) and a mere 20 bucks. I bought 2 .. now my pooches can ride in comfort.

The no slider version the liner is 4 pieces (one for the cargo floor and 3 for the 2nd row seat backs). I was orginally sent the no slider version by mistake (quickly taken care of with exemplary customer service!). The cargo floor section of that liner was one solid piece (ie. no flap for where the 3rd row seats fold down into the cargo floor). That said, I'm pretty sure Brooks at Canvasback could be sweet-talked into offering a 3rd row seat version of this liner. All she'll need is a 4Runner with the 3rd row seats from which to pull a pattern. Give Canvasback a call and see what they say ...

Nice. How well do you think they will stay in place over time? I know with my dog unless they were glued down he would find a way to crumple them up into a corner...

I feel pretty confident the pieces of this liner will stay put over the long haul. My 3 dogs haven't able to move the liner whatsoever. The Velcro on the liner pieces hangs on pretty tenaciously to the 4Runner carpeting and it's a concerted effort to peel the liner pieces off. Unless your pooch manages to get his toenails behind an edge and start "digging" you should be okay.

If you choose to remove and clean for any reason, is the OEM carpet underneath going to get "fuzzy" from being pulled up repeatedly?

I had a set of this canvas type years ago in my Mercedes SUV and it wore very well, however the canvas went up the sides of the walls and covered a lot of area that is often scuffed/scratched up (also up the rear set back). In fact it covered all the way up to the bottom of the windows. Much better design if you use the back much (and no dog slobber either!).

Yes, the velcro on the Canvasback liner pieces will "fuzz-up" the OEM carpeting if you frequently rip them loose.

So far, I've left the liner in place and cleaned it by first vacuuming the loose dried mud/dirt and then wet-sponging it (this per the manufacturer). I've found no need to remove the liner.

I've owned 2 sets. The first one worked great for my two dogs. The second set didn't work well at all. For the price I expected them to not move at all but the did not stay in place with my 2 dogs.

So I take it those are relatively slippery for dogs, and thus you put down the pet blankets? These are my favorite cargo mats I've seen so far for the sliding deck. Very clean. I'm looking for something to help keep the dog hair and muddy paws from messing up the cargo area too much, and these might be just right.

I've owned 2 sets. The first one worked great for my two dogs. The second set didn't work well at all. For the price I expected them to not move at all but the did not stay in place with my 2 dogs.

I think how well the velcro on the Canvasback liner will stick depends on nap/weave of the carpeting it's being stuck to. In the vehicles I've owned I've seen a great variance in the quality of the OEM carpeting. If your vehicle has a looped or tight weave the velcro doesn't grab worth a damn. The 2010 T4R has relatively cheap "fuzzy" carpeting and I've found the Canvasback liner sticks to it like shyte on a blanket!

No, the Canvasback material isn't particularly slick .. it has a texture to it from the weave of the acrylic canvas. I throw down the pet blankets simply to provide a bit of padding for my 3 pooches .. it's a bit more kind to their hips and elbows than just the unpadded cargo floor with the liner.

I'm very pleased with how well the Canvasback liner deals with muddy paws and dog hair but the plastic interior panels in the 4Runner are a different matter. They are dog hair magnets .. fortunately a quick wipe with a damp terry cloth takes care of that.

I still like mine a lot. Holding up fine with my two dogs.

Dog fur does stick to them a little, requiring a sticky roller to get 100% clean, but it's much easier than the factory carpet. Not nearly as much fur sticks to them as the carpet.

We've also gotten them pretty muddy a few times after the dogs were playing in the rain, but they clean right up with a damp cloth. Very handy.

They are fairly slippery, so my dogs do slide around in the corners if I don't throw down a blanket. Not a huge deal, but something to keep in mind if you like to take the corners fast. I picked up the same pet throws at Costco that pawzitiv pictured above. They work great and don't slide much.

I've also had no problems with the Velcro coming loose. They stick to the carpet well.
