ok you audio experts, I have a question.
Im wanting to get a new head unit, and was thinking about one of those stereo's with andriod auto, my question is If I get one with wireless android auto, will I be able to download apps? mainly CoTrex ( Colorado Trail Explorer (COTREX) ) to the head unit?
One other reqiurement is that the head untit would have to have the SIRIUS plug as I already have the SIRIUS tuner with a lifetime subscription, dont want to lose that lol.

Id like to get rid of my tablet and have everything (or as much as I can) in one unit. I thought you could download topo maps into the some of the Kenwood units so thats an option.
Thanks in advance

Just curious...
Has your "lifetime" plan only been used for this vehicle?
Or did you keep the plan when you moved to a new ride?

Alvarez v. Sirius XM Settlement - Home

my plan has moved into 3 vehicles now.. When I bought the lifetime plan, I had the SIRIUS tuner that I was able to move from my 99 4runner into my 04, and now into my 07 with a diferent head unit. The ID number is tied to the tuner not the head unit. :music:

Any got an answer lol ? "If I get one with wireless android auto, will I be able to download apps? mainly CoTrex ( Colorado Trail Explorer (COTREX) ) to the head unit?"

Radio related question 5th gen

I removed the stock radio to install a mounting bracket and foolishly did not take a picture of the wiring, and when I went to reinstall everything there is 1 port that I don't have a plug for. With everything else reconnected, everything works fine, radio, nav, backup camera, backlight when using headlights. Is it possible that 1 port is just not used or it is for a feature I do not have? I can't imagine everything working fine if I totally missed something.

Thanks for any help!!!

Android Auto is an API that software developers can integrate into their applications (Spotify, Maps, Pandora, Messages, Waze, etc.) to enable the head unit to act as the display and user interface for the apps running on the phone. The application install only resides on the phone/tablet...not the head unit. If the app developer, CoTrex in your case, doesn't implement the Android Auto API, you can't use it with an AA head unit. Same case with Apple's Car Play.

There are head units that actually run Android. On these, you can install any app that's compatible with the version of Android OS the head is running. However, after following that market off-and-on for years, the quality of the units is too hit or miss for me. You'll find completely opposed reviews and experiences from folks supposedly running the exact same unit.

Good luck!
