Cardone cv shaft

Haven't had to replace the halfshafts on my runner but have bought lots for other cars. If you're going to go the less-expensive route IMO it may make sense to buy from Napa or some other local place with a lifetime warranty. The Rock Auto warranty is fine, but those things are heavy and shipping will eat into your savings, not to mention downtime.

Bought my last ones from Autozone.

I say go for it. I like those better than the auto zone brands. Mainly because only oem and the car done have those lips or ridges on the inside of the cv. The other ones are smooth. You need that Ridge to put a pry bar into to hammer out the old cv.

Any opinions on rock auto cv joints by cardone? The ones with the heavy thermoplastic outer boot. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...431016,drivetrain,cv+half+shaft+assembly,2288

Any other model i can buy at parts stores that is a good part? I would like to fix this weekend, but dont want junk parts.
i use the cardone with heavy thermoplastic outer boot. i installed it earlier this year and so far no issues. got it from rockauto.

Actually even on the smooth ones there is a little flat area towards the back of the boot where you can jam a large chisel and hammer out. On the smooth ones, I've found the best method to install them is to fit them in the hub and align the hub & axle with the differential so you get a straight shot and then use a rubber mallet to persuade it to pop in there.

I've been running the Cardone basic shaft for about 15k miles now. No problems.

Biggest factor is determining your 4R's usage. Mine doesn't leave the pavement, so aftermarket works for me. If you off-road, then get a more stout unit .. or buy local if you intend to use the warranty replacement often.

One of these days I'll get around to rebuilding the torn boot to have an OEM to use as a spare.

i just want to say thank you for purchasing my used axle. i appreciate the buyer from ebay. you will not regret buying a toyota axle.

Wasn't me. I picked up a used one with good boots for 50 bucks shipped from a junk yard off eBay.

I've had an A1 Cardone axle on my driver side for about 3 years and 80k miles. I'm running 3-inches of front lift and average 3-4 days of off-roading per month. I've had no issues. The inner boot is starting to develop small cracks, but not to the point of leaking.
